Toffeeish nose. Sweetish and caramelly with clean, rounded mouthfeel and notes of milk chocolate. Low bitterness. A pretty solid little beer, well worth drinking on its own. Malty, somewhat nutty aroma. First taste was roasted malt and butterscotch, but not overly sweet, followed by a mild hop presence in the background. Full flavor and very drinkable, a great fall session brew. Highly recommended. GG (1622), NorCal, California, USA

The amber beer they’ve brewed is one that can be consumed with many variety of foods. Quite refreshing, with a sweet caramel malt profile that is very thirst quenching. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2006 Appearance: Lots of red hues coming through in this amber copper body. This is a very attractive beer with a huge light beige head.
Smell: Malty toasted aroma with grains and caramel leading with a hint of Werther’s Original and nuts finishing with a remote smidgen of spicy hops.
Taste: Simple and clean but fantastic in that simplicity. It is a perfectly balanced rich flavor full of malts and caramel and yet balanced with a light hop bitter. The sweet butterscotch caramel flavor fades slowly and leaves you wanting more.
Mouthfeel: This is a chewy Scottish ale but not as heavy as some.
Drinkability: I love the flavor and the beer sits light (for the style) making it irresistibly drinkable!
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

Scent is sweet and malty/hoppy. Flavour is light but not lacking in character. There is a slight metallic tinge to it unfortunately. Overall it is a nice amber ale, but not greatly outstanding comparable to some others... BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2006 I really have grown to like Great Divide. They are a less creative, but stronger and more robust dogfish head in my opinion. This beer pours beautiful amber gold. Smell is a boquet of caramel, malts, and butterscotch. Taste is hopy yet crisp and clean. very nicely done and if gen. america buys buy "Crisp, Clean" and oxymorons like "Light yet filling," then this should be the beverage of choice. Not some offputting lager or pilsner.
