redmosquito (172), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Mar 11, 2005 Copper to amber in color with a good yellowish white head. The aroma is nutty malt dominated, reminding me of pistacios, and then a slight, somewhat cheesey hop. The flavor is okay, some malt flavor and some yeast flavor. Clean but nothing exciting. The mouthfeel is dry bitterness with some lingering sweetness. Overall, this is an okay beer, whach as the label claims will appeal to a wide audience, but its not their best beer or a great amber ale. Jonathan3584 (323), Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 24, 2005 Significantly more complex than I expected. Nice malty/fruity/yeasty aroma. Deep amber pour, with a thin white head -- some nice lacing. Flavor is very malty with some yeast fruitiness in the end. Very nutty. Not too mch balance from the hops, but it’s tasty. beerandrugby (210), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Feb 22, 2005 bottle. extremely malty, grainy, maple aroma...the aroma got me excited to drink the beer...taste was a slight let down..very nutty, not subtle, big malt not much hops for balance...good but a step down from their Yeti and Hercules. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 22, 2005 Coppery with a big head. Strong grainy aroma (moderately unpleasant) touch of oxidation, bit of hops. Moderate bodied, toasted grain and strong lightly astringent graininess, which I can’t get past. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Feb 11, 2005 Updated: Feb 15, 2005Gusher alert! Popped open this bad boy to a loud hiss and gushing bubbles. First glass was 100% head. After letting it settle down some, I finally saw that this was dark amber in color, slightly hazy. And, needless to say, the head was huge, frothy, and long lasting! Rich sweet maltiness to the aroma, with gingerbread, cookies, and musty yeast notes. A certain fruity, bing cherriness in the flavor along with rye and wheat tang and a slightly bitter finish. Full, bubby, almost Belgianesque mouthfeel, I am guessing due to the overcarbonation of my particular bottle, but it works. I guess you should shake up your bottles to enjoy best. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Feb 9, 2005 Poured a relatively light cloudy amber. A thin white head. The aroma is caramel and some light vanilla. The mouthfeel is thick. Taste is surprisingly roasted with some nuts and bread. This is a unique amber style brew. Nothing special here. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 3, 2005 Dark coppery-ruby. Willamette hops aroma, lightly. Grapefruit and unsweetened red licorice flavors. Body is leaning into the watery range (for an amber), and finish is tart, complementing the copper color with a metallic copper twang on the tongue. Satisfied my curiousity as raised by Yeti Imperial, Hercules, and other big-bottle Great Divide offerings that I’ve enjoyed. obxdude10 (1546), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 26, 2005 Decent amber ale, smooth & drinkable but nothing really to write home about, deep amber in color with a decent sized brown head, very nice lacing around the glass, very subtle malt aroma, medium in body, deep malty flavor with a nice balance of hoppiness, malty finish
