This poured a rich clear amber with a finger’s worth of head which quickly dissipitates. The aroma is very heavy on the pine, with some lingering sweetness as well. Taste is very sweet, vanilla like up front. The aftertaste has a good bit of pine like hoppiness to it. The sweet and the bitter balance each other out quite well in this brew.

Mostly a hoppy oaken aroma from an amber pour with a small head. The flavor was very nice with an oak and vanilla underlying taste followed by a bit of sweetness, Very nice after taste that lasted a while.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep golden with a small white head. Aroma of vanilla birthday cake and a bit of woodiness. Some caramel candy notes cover a bit of piney hops in the background. Flavor starts with a sharp woody and hoppy character, the hops cutting right through the sweetness. Lots of oak and some more of the vanilla and caramel coming into the finish which has a slight bitter kick. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Oaked IPA’s are always interesting because the wood and hops always press so hard on one another, but this one is pretty drinkable and refreshing, especially for 7.1 abv

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours amber with a small sudsy off-white head. The aroma has some funky hoppiness with green onion and tropical notes, light oak and a small amount of malt hiding in the back. Medium crisp body at the beginning that gets smoother and then has light semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with clean caramelly toasty malt, vanilla, oak and spicy / piny hops. The finish has quite a bit of vanilla and assertive hops that are piny, woody, earthy, spice and grapefruit-like. Nice beer overall.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma : pine, spruce citrus, lemon zest and golden malt. Soft. 7+
Appearance: clear amber with medium creamy head.
Flavour and Palate: frontal fruity citrus bitterness with hint of walnut and oriental fruit. Soft gentle malt body is nice. Is this hint of oak that develops behind? Look on bottle confirms barrel ageing. Nice subtle set of flavours. Very nice balanced approach.

Smells of Vanilla, wood, pine, citrus and and carmel. Pours a nice amber with a great white foamy head that lasted. Medium body with a very pleasant mouthfeel. Good carbonation and a very crisp finish. Flavor was oak, pine, subtle vanilla, and a very nice malt balance.. This was a great beer..

Draft at Kuma’s. Never would have guessed IPA. Pours a deep amber with a white head of foam. Tons of cocoa and vanilla in the nose with faint citrus in the background. On taste, chocolate syrup and more vanilla as well. Some oaky notes as well. And odd beer, but quite tasty. Not a ton of hop character, but still pretty tasty. Nice.
