3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is pretty standard for this style. It’s got caramel malt and pine/citrus hops. The appearance is amber with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with an astringent finish. The palate is smooth. Overall a good IPA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft… Mostly clear amber ale with an orange tint and a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is a lupulin medley of grapefruit, pine and grass with an underlying suggestion of tea biscuit. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and jazzy carbonation. The flavor provides good balance – biscuity sweetness and tannic bitterness. Crisp, dry finish with a pinch of salt.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Diaphanous copper appearance with a wispy head. This beer has the aroma of salt, wood, and citrus. My nose is also picking up on the aroma of peanuts. Quite the odd aroma, but it is pungent and interesting. Not much bitterness, but a lot of salt and wood initially hit my taste buds. The vanilla eventually kicks in, but it’s not so poignant. The citrus doesn’t really develop as I believe it should because the wood flavor dominates. It’s a decent IPA, but having a wood-aged IPA is a bit weird because the hops are overshadowed. Decent stuff, but it needs to have a better hop presence. Maybe if I had a bottle that was REALLY fresh this stuff would taste better. Bottle date: 08-25-10.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a light amber with a thin head. Aroma of toasty nut, hops, wood and some yeast. Taste is a little fat with some wood, and yeast, not as hoppy as I would have thought. Pretty good, nice and complex, but I would have liked more hoppiness.

pression @ OTH.
Quelle bonne surprise.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Copper color with no head. Aroma of caramel, light chocolate and a bit of oak. Light oak and chocolate flavor. Semi-harsh bitterness. Seems tanic. More oak shows up after it warms. Tasty, but a bit oddly lacking in hop flavor and aroma.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Clear dark amber/orange pour a little carbonation and a sweet vanilla and hop aroma. Flavor starts out with creamy vanilla and malt, then some noticeable oak, bitter orange and some subtle lingering burnt sugar on the finish. This was good out of the bottle, but outstanding on tap when visiting the brewery during GABF this year.

Pours a hazed reddish copper color with a large sticky off white head. Aroma is hops, malts, oak, vanilla, caramel. Flavor is floral hops, biscuit, toasted caramel, quite a bit of oakiness, pine, citrus, some spices. A solid offering from Great Divide.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours clear dark orange with a small foamy beige head that has good retention. Aroma of piney and citrus hops with some wood and malt. Taste is very nice, more resinous hops than floral or sweet citrus. Bitter finish, kind of herby.

Bottle. Light piny hops in the aroma with a hint of wood. The flavor has piny and floral hops, light sweet malty notes, and some lighter oaky woody hints. Decent.
