4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2013 7/4/2011-Subdued citrus and carmel on the nose. Beautifully smooth with flavors flowing from sweet malt to fruitiness to minerally bitterness. Clean and bracing finish with only hints of vanilla/oak. Much like their Titan IPA, a little darker and aged. It’s really good, but if they want to rumble with the likes of Oaked Arrogant Bastard from Stone, they’re going to need to up their wood (so to speak.) 8/12/2013- I’m getting a bunch more oak out of this one. Different recipe? bottle? batch? taste buds? Love it even more!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
It poured a red color with a small white head. The aroma was of oak, pine and earthy hops. The taste was similar with a light sweetness on the back end but it still finishes fairly dry. Tasty.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a burnt orange with a thin, whispy head. Soft nose. In the mouth, the softness continues with mild hops.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle sample at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks Ariel. Clear copper with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, a bit biscuity and caramelly and rather stale hops. Sweet malty flavor with some caramel, some wood and a bitter finish with stale hops. Medium-bodied. Sweet and stale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours hazy amber thin tan head. Aroma of pine, vanilla, and citrus. Medium sweet taste. Medium body, thin texture, finishes with some bitter hop balanced with vanilla. Overall an interesting take on an IPA, a little watery in the taste, not bad overall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 12 oz) Clear orange with a thick white head. Oak sweetness and pine resin in the aroma. Flavor is bitter at the start with a good amount of hops but then a big rush of the oak sweetness in the middle. Some vanilla and toffee with a bitter and lingering hop finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Looks and smells terrific, very chunky and bold (much like the characteristics I admire in women) Maybe the oak barrel thing is the wave of the future, and it hits the 7% mark which I also find desirable (In beer that is). Good job making this!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice roasted, woody aroma from a clear copper/amber body with a fluffy off-white head. More of the roasted malt/wood in the flavor with a distinct alcohol bite. Sharp earth and pine bitterness that lays down on the tongue and stays there. The light caramel sweetness is just barely enough to balance the solid bitterness. There’s a nice lightly smoked woody flavor that floats around the entire time. Seems much more English than American IPA. Finishes thin and bitter. Nice variation on an IPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap at Torreys. Copper with nice head. A lot in this beer. Carmel comes through and the oak is a perfect fit. A pine finish which I am unsure of. A great approach, winter would be a better season than summer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a slightly hazy orange with an average head that leaves thin, soapy lace. The aroma is apples, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is better than I expected. I’m still not convinced that oak aging and heavy hops are the best combination, but it works here. Citrus up front, a rich malt, and at the finish the warm oak floods the tongue. Strong resin notes on the swallow. Not bad.
