3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Johnsense (467) - - JUL 28, 2011Pours clear dark amber with a finger plus of head which leaves traces of lace as i drink. Aroma of caramel malts, Vanilla, Hops and oak, with neither overpowering the other. Taste of Oak, pine, and sweet malts that prevail in the end. The low carbonation is my only complaint - the beer seems a tad watery in the mouth. Overall I liked it and would try it again.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OKplus (549) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 10, 2013
A - Pours a hazy amber with 1 finger of frothy off-white head, nice lacing.
S - Toasted caramel, strong bready aroma, pine hops, savory oak.
T - Robust toasted caramel, hints of oak, a kiss of sweet but smoky fruit, leafy hops, the malt and oak marry together very well. Pine resin starts creeping in to meld with the oak and lock in the dry bitter finish
M - Medium body, lush feel.
Well done. Very balanced. The oak accents the malt very well, the hops have enough bitterness to round out the density of the malt.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (5000) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle:   Orangish straw in color, dirty, a bit hazy, moderate to large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   First off is a fairly oakish nose.   Hops are subtle, a little citrus and candied.   Definitely secondary to
the woodiness.   Very soft hop aspect, a little musty and barnish, I think because of age.   Certainly some wood aspect on the tongue, but stronger on the nose.   Smooth, decent malt background.   Fairly full bodied.
This reminds me of a really citrusy IPA that has aged a bunch, so you get that soft candied citrus peel, that has some wood aged aspects.   Not sharp or bright, instead a little musty citrus peel type hops as well as that
shaven oak.   I enjoyed it, and i bet this is much better fresh.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Beerman6686 (3186) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2013
This one poured a medium yellow color with a white head. Aroma was light oak, light triple C hops and herbal notes. Flavor was sweet and candy light, light hops and barrel. Ok.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DCLawyer (714) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - APR 12, 2013
Bottle->SA. Orange/gold with thin white head. Aroma: rotting hops and sweet malt. Taste: sweet malt with bittersweet hop finish. Out of balance, too sweet. Another oak ruined beer.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 wildbeercat (136) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 23, 2013
12 fl oz / 355mL bottle (bottled June 11 2012) into pint glass.
Aroma: Hoppy! Almost a slight sweet malt? Wood!
Appearance: Hazy, coppery orange; off-white head. I think I see white specks floating in it? I’ve had some Belgians that have had traces of yeast, but I haven’t seen it in an IPA before. I’m not sure what I’m looking at, but it’s pretty.
Taste: Bitter hops. Maybe a little biscuity/bready? There’s a flavor I can’t nail down; I’m assuming it’s the oak from the ageing.
Palate: Very smooth! Not watery at all, but not thick--a nice in-between. You can definitely feel its presence; it lets you know it’s there.
Overall: Great IPA! Glad I picked it up to try it. The oak ageing adds in some fun flavors that were new for me, and exciting to try. Not my absolute, all-time favorite, but I would definitely drink it if I were in the mood for it again, and I certainly recommend it.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TomTron (299) - Aiken, South Carolina, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Pours a hazy orange with a soapy white head. Aromas of grassy hops and some citrus. Flavor has notes of citrus, and lemon zest as well as some caramel but the woodiness definitely is coming through and it is rather interesting. It’s very drinkable but its also a bit odd from most IPA’s I’ve had. Still, it’s a solid offering.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 conway (606) - - MAR 18, 2013
Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Didn't much care for the IPA/oak combo. Similar to the 18th Anniversary brew but lighter on the alcohol.

Copper pour with small to medium off white head. Notes were stale hops, weird vanilla sweetness, pine, sweet malts, and light spice. Really likes a bite that I want in india pale ales. Carbonation was ample, very light and weak body.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 redlem (1264) - Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2013
An medium copper color with quickly disappearing head, if not for my tulip glass probably no head. Like most oak-aged IPA’s a diluted aroma as the oak tends to dominate and wash out the hops. Upon tasting some green hops come out as there is a nice bitterness to this beer. It is better than most oak-aged IPA’s I have tried before but it is still a style that is counter-productive to the beer process.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - MAR 4, 2013
Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm Hazy amber color with creamy head. Aroma of wood, yeast, crystal malt, light vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel; sweetish malt flavor, with some vanilla; correct bitterness, a bit of cookie dough too, and light lemon cookies in the end. Flavorful, but can easily be cloying.
