3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
mild citrus flavor with a creamy finish, caramel notes, average hoppiness for NW IPAs. Immanently drinkable. Would definitely buy again.

darkborange pour with a clingy snow white head. Aroma is a bit piney, sweet, and lightly citrusy. None of which are strong. tastes a little watered down. somewhat balanced, thin, and has piney and citrus flavora consiatant with the aroma.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
August 14th, 2013 - Great Divide’s Rumble is indeed a low, hoppy grumble in the mouth, and plenty boozy too, for those looking for a nightcap - or a quick way to get a little buzzed. The oak aging gives it an extra special kick, even though the brew itself is more light and sudsy on the palate, with a thick foamy palate, and even a little soapiness. Orange and pineapple are a citrus duet in the taste, but darker and sweeter, like macerated fruit served in a top shelf maitai. The aroma is also sweet, but sickly sweet, with the same tropical citrus punch, and a lower, calmer fruit note like blueberry. Dark and pungent, with a thick foam and a thick taste, this is a wallop in a bottle, and great for drinkers looking for a quick way to to hoppy euphoria.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Strange aroma, primarily of cooked spaghetti. Also contains some oak, malt sweetness, vanilla and spice. Appearance is an amber color with a large dense off white head. Taste is excellent. Very nice butterscotch flavor with some vanilla and oak. Hops are present, but not heavy. I think this was an old bottle, but it aged well. Slightly bitter and oaky aftertaste. Very nice palate for an IPA. Well done from Great Divide, a brewery that usually delivers.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one’s different. Initial aroma is earthy, floral and citrus fruit. Pretty in your face upon the initial pour. Taste is where things get interesting. It initially hits you like an IPA with some nice hop bitterness, a little pine and grapefruit. Then turns into an oaky, sweet malty taste which is definitely the oak barrel. I didn’t really pick out any vanilla but definitely oak. This ones pretty good. It’s a different approach to an IPA but isn’t bad. I would like to have the hops burst a little more but it’s not bad by any means.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear dark orange with a pillowy head. The body seems substantial strictly from the pour. Aroma of earthy floral hops. Taste is refined with the bitterness of the ample hops offset by the complexity of caramel, toffee and vanilla from the aging. Nicely done and unexpected. Body is substantial while the finish is nicely crisp without too much bitterness.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Barrel aging pulls all the bright floral and citrus flavors out of ipas and this one is no different. Better than most because its not sweet but flavor is melded together and unpleasantly bitter

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a bronze color with a white head. Slight oak, malty, slight cheerios, herbal aromas. A lot more pronounced oak/wood in flavor with other notes of herbal, hoppy, spicy hop flavors. Doesn’t exactly do it for me. Also has a bit of wood cleaner note that I’m not digging.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Old rating. Nice oak ipa. Vanilla helps cuts bitterness. Still has strong sweet caramel background, but feels creamy.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy dark orange pour into Sprecher pint glass. Terrific nose: citrus, biscuit, vanilla, and syrupy caramel. Such a unique flavor. The oak aging seemed to have done wonders for this IPA. It has a strong vanilla sweetness in the front. A rich syrupy caramel flavor that leads into the hop bitterness. The finish is long with a spicy hop dryness and a very faint smokiness.
