What can I say? Great Divide make a great American Pale Ale, even living as far East as the Rockies.

Coppery brown with small off white head. Fairly malty aroma, some piney hops. Medium body. Bit of carbonation, no alcohol. Flavor is off dry. Pine and floral hops. Oak adds some astringency. Some sweet caramel like malts too. Pretty good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle bottled Mar 31, 2014. Pours a clear, deep copper with a half finger, near white head that laces. Aroma has some nice barrel notes, hints of sweetness, vanilla, pine, and resin. Taste is noticeably sweet with a solid bitterness. Pine, resin, vanilla, and barrel taste. Short finish. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Pretty clean in the mouth. Overall a very nice beer. Noticeable barrel notes with a solid bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Sweet caramel vanilla aroma. Creamy off-white head. Hazy, what looks to be unfiltered orange-gold body. Big but drinkable IPA. The oak lends a little bit of a sweetness, which coupled with the rich malts, is a little over the top. The hops are kind of piny,, syrupy, resinous. Full bodied, a decent beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy orange with an average head that leaves thin, soapy lace. The aroma is apples, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is better than I expected. I’m still not convinced that oak aging and heavy hops are the best combination, but it works here. Citrus up front, a rich malt, and at the finish the warm oak floods the tongue. Strong resin notes on the swallow. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A nice deep golden color, maybe almost amber with blood orange hi lights. Almost no foam cap,
more of just a ring around the edge. Nicely carbo’d but a tad hazy. Chill haze?
Aroma is that of piney citrus hops.
Sweet tasting toffee or caramel malts with sutle hints of oak, bourbon and vanilla.
Citrusy hops compliments nicely and finishes with a dry aftertaste.
A medium bodied beer that’s smooth and flavorful.
I do notice a bit of an off flavor deep in the background that is maybe a result of all the different flavors present.
Not that big of a deal.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark amber with thick head. Smell is mostly malt with a hint of hops. Taste is a pretty even balance of malt and hops with notes of oak on the finish. Medium body, medium carbonation. Not what I expected rather boring.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours clear copper with a frothy, lumpen yellow-white head. Huge lacing and slow fade. Aroma is caramel malt, oak and some floral resin. Taste is oak, roasted caramel malt and muted bitter hops. Earthy, refreshing and very drinkable. This beer feels like it has more powerful citrus and hop notes lurking, but they never fully pop. Still, very pleasantly surprised - I could drink a few of these.
