COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

On tap at Vintner. Amanda ordered this so I figured I would drink some of it to help her cause. Light yellow color with a white head on it. Plenty of grass and hops in the smell, but it lacks that belgian funk that is in almost all saisons. This isnt a bad thing, really. Light and refreshing, easy to drink. This was a pretty good example of an American saison.

A: Hazy straw yellow body. Small head that quickly recedes. Not much of a skim, just a slight ring around the edges. Little, to no lacing. S: Slight lemon, banana, yeast notes. Very little must/funk/feet/farm/saison smell. T: A bit out of style, with an almost complete void of the characteristic saison flavors. There isn’t much of an earthy/funky flavor. Instead, its a clean lemon, wheat flavor. Tastes like a wit beer. M: Light-medium body. Semi-dry finish. Feels good on the palate. O: Don’t get me wrong, this beer was quite enjoyable. It just didn’t taste like a saison. If you blind folded me and gave me this, i’d identify it as a pretty solid wit beer that I would get quite a bit of enjoyment out of. Bottle:   Yellowish straw, slightly cloudy, large sudsy white head, spotty lacing, lively carbonation.   Grassy nose, some straw and barnish character.   A little bright, also slightly bready... but ever so slight.   Has a subtle spice to it, perhaps even a little bit of pepper.   Not bad, some cereal on the backside.   Wished it was a bit more tart and floral, but alas its an American example.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly hefty for a Saison.   Finish does pick up some tartness, a little dry too.   Feels a little mealy tho.   Decent example, not bad, but wished it was more floral and bright.

355 ml bottle. From Coldbrewky. Big thanks to Steve!
Came out of the bottle like a rocket. Hazy orange yellow colour with big white head. Yeast, tart fruitiness, apple sauce, mild caramel sweetness and mild wheat. Flavour is yeast, dryish malt, some fruity sweetness, mild alcohol, mild spices, mild fruity hoppiness and wheat. Quite smooth and enjoyable.

355mL thanks to Blinkin. A hazy glowing gold pour yields a larger, white, brilliant head. Nice retention. White wisps of lace. Nose is apricot and small vinegar. Taste is musty and oatmeal malty. Odd palate. Mild lemon and cardboard with eggy sulphur and odd tartness. A little blander with lemon and lavender soap. Odd.
