Commercial Description:
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

This ale pours a light golden with a very light haze and develops a full 2-inch head that is totally white and creamy. The head settles over time into about 1/4 inch. The carbonation is marked but of moderate intensity with very small bubbles. The initial nose makes me think of a pilsner, but the malty and hoppy notes are pushed aside by the expected sour notes of this farm-house ale. The body is medium-light with a pleasant lightly-sour lingering. Definitely an ale for food. The sour notes are more restrained than I expected of a Farmhouse Ale/Saison. The ale is quite tasty. Lacing does form, but is rather moderate. The 7.3% ABV is not noticeable on the palate. I’d try this again, but would first return to some Saisons from Belgium.

Bottle.
Pours a beautiful cheddar orange with a nice head of white and intricate lacing. Aroma is a bizarre mix of farmhouse spring and hay with retarded cheese yeast. Flavor is more of the short-bus fromage yeast with a touch of stale white wine in the finish. Hints of honey and peach linger in the finish. Nice, full mouthfeel. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.

Bottle and served in my big ole Karmeliet glass: Chilled hazed golden hue with a fluffy white head and clinging lace. The aroma has notes of wheat husks, pale biscuity malts, dusty yeast, lemon, pear, slight herbal hop and musty cellar. The taste is mildly tart and wheaty with a yeast driven background along with some mild pepper and mint. The mouth feel is lively (perhaps a tad too much) and refreshing where as the alcohol is dangerously well hidden till the aftertaste. This is the second attempt to rate this beer as I drank the first bottle so quickly I forgot to take notes, so I guess you could say I like this brew, huh.

Hazy yellow with a white head. Nice lemongrass, dusty pale malt , peppercorn aromas. Medium body. Good semi dry cereal grain flavors, with lightly sweet fruit, black pepper dry spices.

Pours a hazy pale yellow. Nose is bright lemon and earthy yeast. Taste is watery, the yeast lacks any personality that i’d want from a saison, thin, citrusy, overly citric, a tad bland.

Straw yellow with a modest white head. Tart, citrus aroma with a touch of rice. Crisp, refreshing taste. Some tartness without being over bearing. Slightly fizzy. Clean finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

From the Ft. Wayne tasting. Hazy yellow color with a white, fizzy head. Light, spicey nose. Very spicey flavor, with clove, tangerine and oragne rind, some soap and banana. Dry finish. Easy to drink saison.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours hazy yellow and smells of malt, fruit, yeast, and a touch of the barnyard. The taste is sweet, tart, and slightly funky. It has a medium body and a dry, somewhat hoppy finish. Good brew.

Draft: Poured a yellow color with a white head. The aroma was citrus, yeast, banana, and grass. The flavor was earthy, grassy, lemons, malts and spice. Overall, a tasty saison.
