Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

Pours bright yellow and lightly cloudy with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of orange peel and bready ale yeast. Taste is citric, yeasty and estery with notes of banana and pear. Thin to medium bodied with lively carbonation. This is a tasty and refreshing summer beer.

Bottle: Pours a golden, lighter honey color with a thick white head with heavy lacing. A pure smell of hops which goes well with a hint of citris. Tastes of a citrisy, lemon and hops which points towards a bread aftertaste.

a hazy golden beer under a frothy white head with nice fine bubbled lacing. cereal and pineapple in aroma. very dry palate with a crisp finish. the flavors are of sweet cereal malts balanced out with the bitter rice and hops. the finish is nicely hopped. enjoyable.

Not great, unfortunately.... the worst of the sampler that I had from them. Pours slightly hazed, straw-gold into the glass with a light frothy white head that diminishes. Citrus, lemongrass and straw to the nose. The flavors are much the same, dry, with an emphasis on the straw/grain aspect, from the rice contingency. The finish is dry, not necessarily bitter, but a light hop is noted... almost subdued. Carbonation levels are "too" present, fighting the brew to gain dominance. All in all, it probably does go down well in the summer months, but as an all-around offering, I would not go out of my way to have it again.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with an enormous white frothy head. Light but crisp and sharp favors. There is a quick tang of citus follwed by a hoppy grain flavor. A decent brew. Only objection is the large head that took some time to disapate, may just be my 6er.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with lots of floaters and a big white airy head. Aromas of citrus, light fruit scents, and something else I cant quite figure out, nuts of some sort maybe? Flavors a actually pretty clean and crisp, some citrus, some malt, cant taste any hops though. This a very easy drinking beer, would be a good lawn mowing beer.

Bottle, Zeke’s. Nice haze on the pale melon/peach juice color ale. Not much head. Nice balanced aroma. Fruity, citrus rind tang, sourdough bread and toasted rice. High carbonation but quaffable.

Nov 7, 2008. Bottle. Pours hazy golden, with a fluffy white, one-finger head, good lacing. Smells of apple, rasins, citrus. The notes in the aroma are subdued in the flavor. It reminds me somewhat of a junmai sake. Mildly bitter, slightly piney aftertaste. Thin and dry body.
