Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

hazy yellow pour with a thin white head and light trails of lace. smells sweet and grainy along with fruit, grass, earth and yeast. the flavor is quite floral and perfumy with some twig-like herbal dryness and a crisp finish. medium body. airy mouth feel and a bit parching. it’s tasty but it doesn’t satisfy the creature...

golden color some faint head, nose was a little grassy but also a little rice and skunky. very light some faint hops nothing outstanding but not horrible, decent hot weather beer.

Advertised as a rice beer, I was a little leary from the start. It had a medium mouthfeel and a yeasty and spicy banana flavor. Not as good as the other Great Divides that I have had.

2008-06-24. Hazy pastel yellow body, modest white head. Odd aroma, lightly musty grains, presumably its the rice I’m noticing but I wouldn’t have pegged it as such without the label on the bottle. Similar flavour with modest character of dusty grains and cereals, not bad just a little askew. Average palate. Bit dull. Bottle from Mabel’s Seattle trip.

Tried on 2 different occasions from two different barrels...not a fan. Pale golden with thin head. Very light aroma, maybe a hint of sour fruit. Malty sweet, note of apricot fruit. Rice / fruit mix did not work for me. Dry, boring palate. Did not finish either pint.

Bottle. Hazy light gold color with a so-so white head. Aroma is primarily citrus. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is something like gooey steamed rice with citrus and bitter. Rather crisp and refreshing. Finish is nicely bitter. A different kind of thing. Pretty good result for use of adjunct.

on tap at some dipping restaurant in Colorado. Yellow hazy pour with minimal white head. It has soft and unoffensive flavors - light citrus at first and subtle hop finish. This beer is refreshing and highly drinkable.

12oz bottle. Pours cloudy yellow. Thin white foamy head. Aroma is of toasted rice. It smells lke a milky sake. Such an odd aroma. It smells toasted but the appearance is so light. Full flavored, for a golden ale. Flavor has a rich malt character, followed by the nuttiness of a fresh pot of steamed rice. Continues with an earthy spiciness. Finishes surprisingly hoppy. Light bodied. Very unique and enjoyable.
