Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

Aroma of cooked corn. Moutfeel is fizzy. Grainy, light mouthfeel with an odd sweet rice flavor and a buttery finish.

Got this on recommendation from the guy at the Spuyten Duyvel Grocery. Pours a nice gold with a fizzy head. The aroma is pretty nice.. definitely it’s most striking quality. Citrus, light hops and yeasts combine in a simple and refreshing way. The flavor left a little to be desired, though.... TOO simple, in my opinion. Not a bad beer, but not something I’m going to bother with again.

A beer that’s on the light side. Crisp finish with a light hoppy/malt taste, a little on the dry side. Pours cloudy with little head. Not the best from Great Divide.

This has a very pale yellow body, slightly hazed, with a creamy white head. The aroma is faint, a light pale malt with some tinny bitterness. Very spritzy mouthfeel, almost annoyingly so. It tastes like a drink of quinine flavored with essense of malt and a drop of honey. I’m not sure what GD was after here, but it’s not something that I’ll be drinking again.

12oz bottle courtesy of RSRIZZO-A clearo golden body with a decent white head that dissipates into a covering on the beer. Aroma of rice and a sweetness. Taste of dryness, bitterness, and a taste u can’t explain(funk). A different tasting beer but something I would not go out of my way to purchase.

Aroma is a faint sweet scent. Color is a bright clear yellow with very good carbonation and thick white head. Taste is light and clean. Starting with a light body it goes down easy and smooth. Finish comes in with a mildly sweet malt flavor that is more like corn then malt. This is followed by a sour twang and mellow bitterness. Odd beer.

Pours a bubbly clear, very light gold with a medium, but well-retained white head. Not crazy about the smell. Really skunky and grainy smelling. No sembalnses of citrus or hops, but toasted grains. Not a good start. The flavor had more citrus flavor to it, and definitely was better than the smell. Still had a definite funky flavor to it too. Had a mild sweetness in the finish. Overall, skunky and bitter though. Disappointing.
