Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

12oz bottle. Bottle notched bottled on the 2nd week of June. Poured a lighter and slightly hazy yellow color with a larger sized white head. Aromas of grains with some rice (I thought it was the name that implanted that until I read the description). Tastes of grains, rice, and light citric finish.

Bottle, pours cloudy and very light in color with a nice head quite reminiscent of a witbier. Smells like a buttweiser, however the taste was much better, a nice amount of light malts, with a nice slight hop bite. Quite carbonated, I enjoyed it for what it was and its easily drinkable.

(Bottle) Pours a yellow color with a small white head. Aroma of a BMC. Taste is of grain and some very light malts. More body than other beers that are made with rice, but still not anything special. Weird aftertaste too.

Poured gold with white head. Not much of an aroma. Some hops or some faint fruit but nothing more. Taste was extremely light. Very water down taste. I’m surprised its 5%! Haha.

Ricey, almost sake aroma. The flavor has some riceyness but is more dominated by a light lemony flavor. Not bad, but not great.

RICE SHOULD NOT BE AN INGREDIENT IN BEER. The only beer by the brewery that I don’t like. The unfiltered style makes it better than other rice containing beers (ie. budweiser) because it leaves it with SOE flavor, but Great Divide has let me down on this one, guess they needed something for the masses to drink.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma is a little sweet. Smells faintly of hops, pils malts, rice. and a little fruit. Poured golden/yellow in color with a small white head that diminished. No lacing. Cloudy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of rice, caramel, syrup, corn, and honey. Medium body. Stickyish texture. Lively carbonation. Sweet, corn flavor finish. Overall, not very good.
