Commercial Description:
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

Bottle. Hazy pale gold color with a bright white head. Green bell pepper aroma with some light biscuits. There is a little bit of grainy character. The taste is grainy bread crust with the rice character. There is some unsalted roast peanut shell. This is light and different. However, I am not sure of the goal with this beer. Is it just a gimmick to use some rice? Seems like it to me.

Very mild aroma is lightly sweet with some herbal hop notes apparent. Clear golden body with a low but lasting white head that recedes to ring with some lace. Light sweet flavour has some banana esters and a lingering musty honey sweetness. Lemony citrus note becomes more apparent as it warms. Light body with fair carbonation. Sampled on tap at Breckenridge.

Draught. High white creamy and lasting fluffy head. Hazy yellow body. Weak aroma of barley malt and fruit. Flavor is relatively sweet and fruity but unforttunately also pretty watery. Low carbonation and a short aftertaste.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-clear golden pale yellow brew with a thin and fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light bready malt, some flowery hops, a touch of pear fruit and some herbs. Taste is light bodied, light carbonation with flavors of white bread malt, some fruity pear character, and floral hops. Finish is light, semi-sweet fruity with some pear aftertaste.

Bottled in the 2nd week of June. Poured hazy brighter golden with a moderate cap of well-retained creamy white head. The aroma picked up sweet, dusty bready notes with light floral hoppage and a hint of light fruits. The flavor found bready and vegetal notes at the core with light, crisp fruity and floral bitterness.. some sort of adjunct on the back-end (perhaps corn).. sweet finish with more of the veggies and adjuncts.. not so tasty. Light-bodied and crisp on the palate, but it just didn’t feel too good. I could’ve done without this.

Draft @ Great Divide: Hazy golden color with a large white head. Very light malt aroma was clean and airy. The flavor was pretty light as well. Malty and grainy with a light bitterness toward the finish. Clean finish and light bodied. It is what it is.

Bottle (12oz). Pale gold, flat-looking, small fizzy diminishing head. Vaguely sweet-smelling, oddly vegetal - like slightly rotten apricots. The taste is ... nothing, really - genericly fruity, a little stale bitterness, maybe a hint of olive? - actually not bad, might be a good summer beer, if really, really cold. Very light, slick, still body, quick finish, no aftertaste. Overall - ehh.

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: pours as golden frisky brew with quiet large white foamy head. Slight haze shown.
Nose: soft fruity nose , hint of orange peel , wheat , candi and pils malt
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied. Light nutty earthy tomes with golden background. Very drinkable with enough soft palate smeared with leafy wet hop to be balanced. I could drink this all day. What else you might want. Bit dry with hint of alcohol , wet hop character with soft silky body.
