COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Looking for something a little different? Brewed with rice and barley malts, Samurai is an easy drinking, unfiltered ale that changes the status quo for unfiltered beers. The addition of rice gives Samurai a slightly fruity, crisp, refreshing and clean taste. This is definitely not your everyday unfiltered beer.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Westover Market in Arlington, VA that a friend picked up, we drank it 5/30/09

Aroma: Sweet fruits, rice, and a little lemon
Appearance: Poured a hazy yellowish color into a beer mug
Flavor: Wasn’t a big fan, call it fruity sweet rice malts with some corn
Palate: Light, a little astringent
Overall Impression: I wasn’t a big fan, it just didn’t really taste so great. It grew on me a little, but still didn’t think it was so great. Maybe it just wasn’t my thing, my buddy I was drinking with seemed to like it a lot more then me...

From notes: Poured hazy straw color with a 2-finger white head. Aroma was of mild citrus and yeast. Light body with a crisp, somewhat dry finish. Crisp, mildly fruity/grainy taste with some yeast funk.

Kinda disappointed with this one. I think I expected it to be great for some reason, and it just wasn’t there. The pour was hazy straw gold color. A bit of floral and sweet aroma. There was definitely sugary sweet grains that had a bit of sake-like flavoring (obviously). But it also tasted like a cooked veggie (corn or something). Just not super appealing. Some bitterness and hops. I appreciate that they tried something different and interesting, but could use some tweaking for sure.

out of my mix pack, I was told good things about this one. Color was a whitish hazy yellow. Aroma is very complex for a golden rice beer. I was getting light lemon, grain, roasted chestnut and even some vanilla. Taste gives that mild citrus along with some slightly sweet grain. Remarkably good for a beer that uses adjuncts.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange-yellow with thin white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, grain, slight lemony rice, touch of spice, touch of sweet vanilla. Taste is sweet lemon, biscuit, toffee, slight hints of lemon, hints of rice and grainy notes, finishing fairly sweet.

Pouring a pale yellow and very bubbly body, this beer looked rather bland. First scents reveal a soft yeast aroma with grassy notes as well. The taste was fruity, mainly some light lemon and grainy flavors. Finished nice and clean with a hint of hops. Nothing extreme like most of their stuff, but very nice to drink a few of these.

Nothing special. Not a ton of flavor, but hey, it’s not bad or anything. Just a drinkable definition of average beer.

Bottle/12oz - Pours a very clear light straw yellow in color with a small white head that settled to a thin covering over the beer. Aroma is grainy and somewhat nutty along with some bready yeast. Flavor is much more nutty, light carbonation and just a hint of hops. Interesting... much better than some of the megabrews that also use rice in the grist... but still not that great if a beer... just "average",,,

Pours slightly hazy yellow with a white head. Smells some citrus...some yeast. A clean taste...smooth and thin on the palate. Not a bad beer. Wouldn’t mind trying it again...but probably won’t go out of my way to get it.
