Obscenely overpriced bottle at Das Meisterstuck, purchased cause I saw it was retired here. Jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma is cigar smoke. Flavour is again dominated by cigar, burnt wood and some licquorice. Body is not as heavy as you would expect.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 visionthing (1665) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 7, 2012
10cl sample (bottle) at Vulkan ølfestival. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a small beige head. Mild aroma of roasted malt with licorice, dark fruits, chocolate and just a hint of smoke and spices. Medium to full body. Sweet, but well balanced. Lightly bitter and hoppy finish, also quite dry. Pleasant porter, but a bit anonymous. (2012-10-03)

Bottle, 22oz. A dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. More or less clear. Coffee, hints of smoke, some chocolate and nuts in the aroma. Only a hint of smoke, I think there should be more of it. That goes for the flavor too, which is mostly roasted, with some coffee and a decent bitterness. A light sourish smoke note too, and some sweetness. Full-bodied, semi-dry and nicely carbonated. Short finish with roasted malts kind of bitterness. A nice beer indeed, but it needs more punch, especially on the smoke. 120505

Bottle @ Holiday resort Dark brown, unclear with nice light brown head. Nose is moderately smokey, with a lot of chocolate sweetness and hints of coffee. Taste is smoke, milk chocolate, some coffee and some hop bitterness. Bit sticky, medium to full body with rather high carbonation.

Pours black with a brown dark red hue light beige head not much aroma, if any. Suppose this is because its a lager yeast beer flavor is a pretty clean and bready like a dunkle...then the smoke flavor kicks in ...which is not all that bold i guess this is a good beer. Just wanted something a little more smokey . Body is medium and there is an oily finish with no bitters....not sure i’d pony up the money for this again, but i would gladly drink one if handed to me

Pours just about black in color with a khaki head. Nose is dominated by smoke, char, and ash. Lots of roast, a bit of salt, some chocolate, and a nuttiness to it as well. Mild licorice to it, too. The flavor is overpoweringly smokey. Tons of burnt wood, charcoal, ash, and char. Roasted malt, salt, and almonds on the palate. A bit of molasses and chocolate sweetness along with a bit of licorice. Not really my thing.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 daje (1291) - NORWAY - SEP 2, 2012
Bottle bought at Systembolaget Drottninggatan last year, shared with esp0r july 2012 at his place. Black body, beige head. Aroma is kind of lightweighted, with roast, some smoke and caramel. Taste is lightly smoked, with roasted malt, earthy hops and licorice. Good body, balanced finish. A good beer, but admit I expected a bit ’more’.

Tap at Great Divide, Denver - 04/06/12.
Dark brown but not quite approaching black with a decent tan head.
Lightish roast malt, a touch of liqourice, smoke at the end.
Dark chocolate combines in the flavour along with the roasted malt and is then backed up by charred wood and smoke.
Lighter end of medium body, not watery, but a little light - I’d have preffered a bit more bollocks in the body! Moderate carbonation, sweet finish with a puff of smoke.
