Smoked Baltic Porter is the sultry sister of a storied style. Brewed with traditional German malts and hops, this dark lager gets its special twist from a hefty addition of Bamberg smoked malt. This smoldering, medium-bodied lager is sure to please.

First Batch: 6.2% ABV

Last brewed in 2011, discontinued in 2012.

Bottle 22fl.oz.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke, toffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, smoked, plastic, clammy sweet smoke. IMO not Bamberg smoke at all ;O) Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101122]

22 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt and somewhat smoked. Ham like. Dark malt, smoked and vegetables. Ends dry and roasted malt flavoured finish. A bit simple and light for a baltic porter, not sure about the combo of German malt, hops and Bamberg smoke for a Baltic porter.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has strong notes of smoke - from beech wood combined with medium notes of rope and light notes of tar. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, beech wood smoke, and rope, leading to a dry smokey finish. The body is light.

Black color; medium sized head, with short retention. The aroma is not as smoked as expected, instead it shows paper, coffee, cardboard, light vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel; dry but pleasant flavor of roasted malt, coffee, ashes; these are correctly blended and mild enough to be acceptable; light smoked touch; ordinary bitterness. It reminds me of Carnegie Porter with some smoke, not enough chocolatey, not enough Baltic (in other words, it’s weak).
