COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Great Divide brews Titan IPA for hop disciples -- independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops, flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big aggressively-hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill -- beginning with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishing with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness. 65 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Almost clear copper orange with a bright white head and wonderful lacing. Strong pine aromas with ample grapefruit as well as floral notes. Strong crisp hops bitterness hits hard up front and maintains its strength throughout. Rich yet subtle bready malts ease in but don’t can’t displace the hops. Medium body, lively carbonation, smooth creamy mouthfeel, and a wonderfully balanced lingering finish.

Bottle. Hazy golden orange pour with a creamy off-white head that lasts a while. Aroma is sweet and hoppy with notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, apricot, orange, biscuit and caramel. Flavour is very much like the aroma, if anything it is even more fruity but still balanced nicely by the sweet malt. Mouthfeel is slick with moderate carbonation and a lingering bitter finish that is tempered by some substantial sweetness. Very nice brew that smells and tastes a little like a IIPA, and is almost as rich, but without the kick from the alcohol.

Bottle. The pour was a cloudy medium burnt orange with an average sized (1-2 finger) white rocky head that had good retention, reducing to a medium cap and having some good streaky lacing. The aroma was of a caramel malt, pine and floral hops and a mild moldy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (orange peel). The taste was a nice bitter hoppy with a touch of citrus throughout, and had a light malty sweetness and a hint of caramel towards the end. The flavor lasted an average amount of time after the swallow with a hoppy slightly sweet malty taste settling nicely on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was a bit beyond light in body and dry in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall a nice refreshing twist on an IPA, the slight malty sweet finish was surprisingly enjoyable...

April 2008: I wrote this on BA. This breweries beers were recommended to me by BA ColoradoBobs, cheers John. 355ml Brown bottle bought in Borough Market, London. Don’t ask how much I paid, it makes me cry. Poured into a Bateman’s half pint tumbler glass two and half times). Very excited to be let out the bottle, it filled my glass with half beer, half a slighty off-white foaming head. The liquid was a dull, old gold colour and a little cloudy come misty, with plenty of bubbles hurtling to replenish the head. The aroma was fairly sweet to my nose, hops, but with candyfloss too. It got less sweet as it warmed, a more citrus twang appeared alongside the hops. A taste that is a lot hoppier than what I am used too, but not so overpowering it knocked my socks off. Just a very heavy presence of the noble hop. The second pour obviously had a lot of the sediment within it, so cloudier, lumpier and hopier. The final dregs contained all the stuff that helps to keep you regular. I’m not the sort of bloke who leaves much (beer or food) but remind me to pour this beer in one go next time we meet! I’d never have guessed it was a 6.8% brew, but it has a lasting flavour (of hops) and I could easily get used to it, if it was cheaper in the UK. All in all a pleasant experience, good stuff.

Really fruity ale, especially citric hoppiness was really mouthfilling. Interesting IPA for sure.

12fl. oz. bottle. Orangish colour with a formation of an off-white head with a moderate lacing. Aroma is hoppy, fruity and fresh. Flavour has pine and orange peel notes, moderate bittery and smooth on the palate. The final has a decent bitterness with a moderate duration. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium.

Orange amber color. Citrus and floral nose. Medium to full bodies balanced palate. Some sweet malty flavors and subdued hops. Might not be a fresh bottle.
