Commercial Description:
Great Divide brews Titan IPA for hop disciples -- independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops, flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big aggressively-hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill -- beginning with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishing with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness. 65 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Poured an orange-dark golden color, with a huge head. smelled clean, citrus, hops. Tastes hoppy, bitter on the sides of my mouth, but doesnt linger too long, also get sweet malt. pretty good balance though overall, for a hoppy beer. Gets smoother and more mellow the more of it i drink. Overall a pretty darn good brew!

16 oz. pint - $6.75 (time to start drinking at home more often) at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Arrived at the booth a deep, dark copper body with a thin, though lasting, white head. Smell: Fragrant hop aromas of bergamot, jarring grapefruit pith, and pine resin rest over a sturdy base of candyish pale malts. Taste: Sweet, nigh candied maltiness upfront with a lesser taste of caramel and toasted pale malts. Pithy, citrusy hop character infused with pine needles delivers a rather assertive hop bitterness. Finishes bittersweet, though only the cumulative bitterness persists into the aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. A touch sticky in the mouthfeel. Drinkability: Plenty of bold bitterness, but it’s backed up by enough sweet maltiness. A superlative example of an India Pale Ale and a valued member of the beer community. Surely we can all agree on that?

(35.5cl bottle) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a short off-white foamy layer. Slightly sweet (cara-)malty aroma with a well-blended, profound lemon-fruity, flowery and zesty hops character. Bitter flavour, medium bodied, crispy on the tongue. Dominating fruity and moderately piney hoppy notes, but with an always present caramel-malty base, drying out towards the bitter fruity (lemon, oranges) and delicately piney finish that last for a while. Very balanced IPA. I´d love to have the chance to get it just around the corner (19.II.09).

Bottle. Bit of a barleywine aroma, but flavor is all fruity IPA. Not very piney for me, but quite bitter - malt balance could be better, though I like this beer quite a lot. I like the new label.

Pours a clear amber color with a nice white head and good lacing on the glass. The aroma is fruity. Full carbonation hits your tongue with force making room for a short lived maltiness followed by a hop presence that although pronounced, it is an IPA afterall, is not overwhelming. I did not get the impression that hops were added just to show off as in some IPAs, they were part of the plan.

Bottle@home Apperance: Golden orangeish with a small head and nice residual lacing. Aroma: Citric notes, Pine, Wheat biscuits, Hint of honey. Flavor: Hint of caramel, Citric notes, Pine, Malt. Very grapefruity! Palate: Plenty of bitterness but nicely balanced with a solid malt backbone. A very american ipa with the focus on citric & floral hops and that’s the way i like it. This was plenty to get my hop-cravings satisfied for the evening. Very drinkable and very good!

Bottle. Pours a coppery orange with a big fluffy head and aromas of floral and citrus hops (grapefruit and oranges come to mind). Flavor is a nice balance of caramel maltiness and somewhat subdued citrus flavors from the hops. Not quite so aggressive as on many IPA’s but pleasant, none the less. This is a little sweeter than I’m used to in this style, but not cloying and relatively full flavored, in spite of the subtle nature of it all... This is pretty good stuff.

A yellow and orange pour with a faint aroma of hops and citrus. The flavor, while not anything special has some good balance of bitter hops and sweet malts. Smooth mouthfeel. A solid effort from an excellent brewery.
