Commercial Description:
Great Divide brews Titan IPA for hop disciples -- independent beer drinkers seeking out robust, flavorful beers characterized by their abundance of hops, flavor, aroma and bitterness. As a big aggressively-hopped India Pale Ale, Titan IPA fills this bill -- beginning with piney hop aromas and citrus hop flavors, and finishing with a rich, malty sweetness that is carefully balanced with crisp hop bitterness. 65 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Disclaimer: IPAs are my least favorite style. Pours a nice copper color, with a decent sized white head. Strong aroma of floral and woodsy (pine) hops. Flavor is BIG, containing some sweet malt, but is dominated by the super bitter hops. I woudn’t say there is much balance in this one. Palate is medium bodied and smooth, but has a overly dry finish for my beer tastes. Overall, a decent IPA (as far as IPAs go), but not something I would put in my regular rotation.

I had a cask-conditioned Titan IPA tonight at the Falling Rock in Denver, it was delicious. Color, it was golden, with a slight Amber hue. There was a great hop aroma, grapefruit. The hops were huge at first taste, but were slightly balanced out by a malty sweetness in the background.

The aroma starts off with strong piney floral hop fragrances and malty citrus and strawberry notes. This brew pours seductive straw/copper hues with a tinge of orange and red that peaks into a frothy white head. At 65 IBUs and 6.8% ABV the floral hops and high octane in this beer come right out and talk to ya. The taste is nicely balanced with a full bodied malted barley sweetness that caresses the tounge, but finishes crisp and bitter. This is an excellent standard American IPA. I would definitely choose this brew over the likes of Bridgeport, Lagunitas, and the Green Flash standard IPA’s.

Bottle: I think this stuff was about a year old. (According to the bottled date on the label) Deep orange with a creamy strong white head. Aroma has a nice cookie malt character, mildly bisquity & sweet but with a hint of grapefruit rind. Creamy & velvety mouth feel. Flavor is ultra smooth and balanced. Fresh cookie malt background gives it a substantial & fresh body. The hop character is both fruity & twiggy. Starts with a mild & smooth citrus rind character, which leads to some twiggy earthy notes and the finish gives off nice bittering grapefruit resins as well. Stuff is perfectly balanced and highly drinkable.

Yummy, yummy in my tummy. I am so sorry but I always wanted to write that about a beer. It should have been saved for a stout too but I couldn’t help it. Smells hoppy, tastes hoppy and bitter and goes down so smooth. I loved this beer and was very happily surprised. Wasn’t the best IPA I’ve ever had but would have to put it number two.

Pours deep gold w a medium white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, and caramel. tTste starts off very sweet, the bitterness joins ib the middle and finish is bitter and very lasting. Fairly thick mouthfeel. Fairly well balanced beer and fairly big for an IPA.

Amazing. Incredibly smooth for a beer this strong and bitter. There is a strong sweet malt presence that complements the hops nicely. I could drink these all day. Low carbonation. Highly drinkable. Initially sweet with a lightly bitter grapefruit finish.
