COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tripel’s medium body and straw hue belie a beer of wondrous complexity. Fruity yeast character dominates throughout, while sweet malt and noble hops give way to a bit of warmth in the finish. Ever hugged a monk? This dangerously drinkable abbey-inspired ale just might have you chasing down the next one you see.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (wet cement), with notes of gum, plastic, pineapple, sugar cookies, and pepper. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Much better than you might guess based on this brewery’s previous forays into the Belgian style arena. It does need some work (better attenuation, cleaning up a few off notes, overall sharpening of character), but this is a remarkably promising rendition.

22oz bottle. Color is a hazy orange yellow. Carbonation is good with a nice small white head. Aroma is yeasty with a sweet note. Taste is spicy and crisp. Starting with a medium body that goes down with a crisp feel. Finish comes in sweet with just a faint hint of fruit then the yeast jump outs out spicy with a little hops riding along with it and a nice bitterness on the end. In the after taste there is a slight banana taste as the bitter fades out then on the very end the alcohol show giving a nice warm feel. This is a well done Tripel, its a little spicier then most but still very good.

Strong spicy and citrusy nose with some mellow malt and wheat. Pours Cloudy burnt yellow with some nice white head and some lacing. Outstanding medium quaffable body with spot on tripel style carbonation and fantastic crisp finish. This one of the better american tripel’s I have tried. The reason is it is not a syrup sugar bomb. Very spiced and clean. Warm on the back of every swallow with a very noticeable hop presence at the finish. Mild sweetness with some clove and sugar.. I really got into this american version.. Also at 9.3% this is very very very dangerous.. the alcohol is hidden very well!!!

TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - SEP 8, 2009
Honeyed yellow. Attractively creamy stark-white head. Pleasant nose of honeydew melon, green banana, clove, candy sugar, and Juicy Fruit gum. Soft and snug carbonation. Fairly sweet, early on, yet brightly floral and juicily hoppy with a slick melon foundation. Faintly toasty Pils malt (crackers, toasted dough) lends structure as it delicately flashes its background crispness. Supple tropical fruity esters (pineapple, banana) are enriched by a pleasing and appropriate nip of candy sugar sweetness and peppery alcoholic warmth. Finishes perfectly sweet with notes of honey and rum, with suggestive dry and crisp malt intertwined with a lustrous fusion of flowery, lightly grassy hops. Wow, the hops are succulent and flavorful, the beer is well-attenuated (no banana- or candy-sugar-bomb here!), and the alcohol is scarcely a factor. I had no idea Great Divide possessed the potential to brew a respectable, straightforward, i.e. simple/yeast-driven/unspiced Belgian-style ale, and a Tripel -- a very difficult style to execute -- at that! All previous attempts (Belgica, Saison, Hades, Double Wit) have been borderline abominable. Not a standout, by any means, but purdy darn solid.

Nutty doughy lemon nose with hints of peach nectar. Burnt hazy gold color, big frothy head with great lacing. Intense clove sweetness, bitterness is solid. Medium to high carbonation, medium body, massive clove candy stick finish with late burning warmth. This seems VERY young to me, the structure is great, I would guess this is going to drink really well in about a year. Might have a little too much of a funky factor, but it is good.

Pour is light golden with white head. Bottles smells of yeast. Nose in the glass is a faint orange. This is a spicy beer, lots of pepper and clove. Feel is smooth, and soft with nice carbonation.

Nice golden color with a short head. The smell is yeasty and that is about it, boring. The flavor is also yeasty but also alcoholic. This was not a bad beer but I would have rather spent the extra dollar or two and bought an authentic belgian tripel. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-30-2009 16:30:23

Draft. Cloudy yellow, soft white textures head. Nose heavy with banana, clove and dry coriander. Smooth approach, somewhat syrupy across the middle, becoming overwhelmingly fruity and candy-like and gummy-like in the finish. Creamy texture, quite nice, I think the first Belgian-style beer from Great Divide that’s worth drinking regularly.

On tap at Great Divide Tasting Room poured a hazy orange with a lingering off white headf. Aromas of pear, banana, light spice and light bread. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of straw, pear and spice with a smooth lightly sweet spiced finish.
