3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 softale (188) - Michigan, USA - SEP 10, 2002
If I were blindfolded and had to tell the difference between this and Abita Purple Haze, I’d be hard pressed to do it. Altough the raspberries are a bit more subtle in Purple Haze. I didn’t like this one quite as well overall though. Maybe because purple haze at least looks like a wheat beer i.e. no red hue.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Andrew196 (1091) - Katy, Texas, USA - SEP 4, 2002
If I had a brewery and was making a girlie brew, it would be just like this...pinkish hue, very fruity, but still resembling a beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Panzuriel (1080) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - AUG 22, 2002
Hints of raspberry amongst the aroma. Subtle raspberry tartness in the flavor without too much sweetness. Mellow and dwindling aftertaste.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gunshy (479) - Ohio, USA - JUL 28, 2002
Okay, this beer poured a reddish amber color and formed a white head that subsided quickly. The aroma was of raspberry. The flavor was of malt and raspberry. The finish was light and sweet. Not my one of my styles, but good for what it is.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Wakie (612) - Centreville, Virginia, USA - JUL 22, 2002
Pleasing thick aroma of raspberries that is backed up by a very sweet taste of them w/ a little ’pop’ of tart at the end. The color seemed off though. An excellent beer for those who like very sweet drinks.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gusler (2654) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 3, 2002
Deep ruby red in color, the head is generous, redish-purple in color, the lace is decent. Sweet nose, ripe raspberries, malt and a slight sour tone also noticed. Sweet start, the top is light, the finish is acidic, dry and a light touch of hops along with the slightly sour aftertaste, as with their ’Honey’ beer, good, but not great.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 25, 2002
I’m always worried when ever I pick up a fruit beer. Hope always springs that perhaps thay aren’t marketing to the beach crowd(not that I don’t like the beach - I ussually do not like the beer selection). Nice garnet color with a rose colored head. Enought sweetness (both malt and berry) to offset the tartness imparted. Quite light and carbonated. I guess real fruit can make a differance.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ultraspank (867) - Dublin, Ohio, USA - JUN 23, 2002
I picked this as my first sample from this month’s Beer of the Month Club shipment. I had
a few bottles of this while relaxing on my deck this evening. This all-natural brew pours a
clear medium ruby. The large pink hued head is rocky with good lacing, and is fully
lasting. The nose is like raspberry cheesecake - delicious. The delectable flavor starts
slightly acidic with a sweet middle and a long rich spicy sweet finish. The light to medium
body is creamy and fizzy with a clean feel to the finish. The level carbonation is much
higher than I normally prefer, but for this brew it works well. This is the most refreshing
beer I have had in some time, outstanding.

I actually liked this one - the raspberry taste is not overwhelming - it tastes more like a mix of different berries and brown sugar. Actually pretty complex.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 11, 2002
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2003 Really not bad for a fruit beer, but I don't think it is inherently possible to make a great fruit beer. Pours an appropriate color - dark amber/raspberry red. The raspberry aroma is killer, but doesn't really translate to the flavor. I can see having just one of these on the porch in the summer. Beyond that, it's pretty much a novelty drink.
