Mostly and quickly, not quite totally diminishing.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of husky toasted grain, moderate buttered popcorn; Miscellaneous light note of lean raspberry.
The flavor is lightly sweet, light-to-moderately acidic with an average-length, moderately acidic, trace bitter finish. Husky retros.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is fizzy.
dpjuart (549), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle sample at brewery Tap Room, Denver, CO, 8/12/08. Pours amber with little head, slight pink hues. Nose is all raspberry mixed with a slight caramel malt note. Taste is bread, raspberry with no real bitterness. Slight bitter, tannic character. Dry as all get out. Not a bad fruit beer. Angeloregon (1823), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2008 12 ounce bottle from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured an amber-brownish body with a medium off-white head. Fresh berry nose that was superior to artificially flavored others. Crisp, cereal with a mild tartness perhaps from the fruit. Excellent fruit beer. Quenching, subtle, and well built. ajm (304), USA Aug 15, 2008 Bottle from Papago. I should give this one another shot. Beautiful tart nose and pink ruby color, but I just wasn’t mad about the flavor. I din’t think the balance was there, and between the initial berry sharpness and the malt, there is another sourness that I couldn’t place or reconcile. Almost like fruit starting to turn, but nothing that drastic I’m sure. Curious. Drnk_McDermott (1536), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 11, 2008 12 oz. bottle, April ’08 bottling. Pours a basic brown beer color, foam has just a tinge of pink. Raspberries predominate in the smell, and not to its disadvantage; comes across like real raspberry instead of flavoring. Berries still up front in the taste, but there is an undeniable backbone of malt. Vienna roast, perhaps, of light crystal. At least they tried for a base beer that doesn’t get overwhelmed by fruitiness, and it pretty near succeeds. Bubbles are a little much for my taste, tend to build up gas that for others might deliver more fruit flavor, for me it gets in the way. Still, a good beer in a style with so many bad examples. Butters (305), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 7, 2008 GUSHER! After a very slow and carefull pour, I had a nice frothy off-white foam all over my glass, bottle, and desk. Despite the huge foam, the body was surprisingly fair in the carbonation. Aroma of farmhouse and light fruit. Flavor is definitely raspberry. Enjoyable, even if it might be infected.
