Nice complexity -- sweet, spicy, fruity, bready. Creamy mouth feel with a lightly bitter finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle: Pours a clear dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing beige head. Has a lightly sweet toasty malty nose with some nutty notes and biscuity malts with a touch of burnt sugar. Starts with decent fullness and lots of effervescent carbonation with a light grainy sweetness and some earthy cocoa notes before a drier bittersweet finish. Could be a little fuller with a touch more complexity.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a cola color with a tall khaki head. A fair amount of roasted malt with a toffee and molasses sweetness. Some dark fruits, a touch of cola, and maybe some chocolate and nuts, too. A bit more bread on the palate with some of the same molasses and toffee sweetness. Notes of dark fruit, cocoa, and lots and lots of roasted malt. Light bitterness, somewhat sweet, just sort of in no man’s land.

Tap at the Stagshead. Pours mahagony with nutty fruity nose. Tastes of pineapple, toffee, earth, grass, some hopping and light vegetable. Decent sipper

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Keg @ Pony Bar UES. Pours deep brown with a big cherry red head. The nose is caramel, spiced yule log, some tobacco and raspberry. The taste is more caramel, some cinnamon and cherry. As expected, strong malt characteristics to the taste. The finish has a weird tinny edge that I find unsettling. Medium body, active carbonation. Overall, OK, but the tin flavor put me off a bit. Served quite cold, too. OK.

Sampled in a bomber. A really quality malted brew. A nice dry hop. Smooth crisp and refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle:   Ruby colored copper, deep and dark, moderate sudsy pale tannish head, fairly nice lacing.   Bready nose, slight dark pitted fruit, even a bit of grape popsicle.   I could do without the grape popsicle.   Very similar on the tongue.   Not too heavy, nor too bready.   Not a heavy dark pitted fruit either.   The grape popsicle makes up too much of the flavor profile.   Not a big fan of this one.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Some breadiness and dark pitted fruit linger, but they are both overshadowed by this grape popsicle flavor.   Ugh...

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a uncarbonated semi-opaque dark ruby red brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was of deep Vienna malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the mild hop start and stronger at the finish with a hoppy aftertaste. The deep Vienna malt flavor contained notes of sweet candy. Too much sweetness ruined this brew for me to be able to drink much of it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark rich brown with fading head. Great spice and caramel nose. Heavy body and full palate. Rye and pumpernickel bread flavors with cedar box spiceness in flavor. Sweet but balanced out by hops well. Nice late summer beer. Would be killer with some braised pork.
