Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Appearance: Extremely dark brown, some may say black. Thick, luxurious foamy head that lasts, chocolate brown in color. Aroma: Coffee, dark malts and glorious chocolate! Closer sniffs revealed subtle hints of that noble hop goodness, not overpowering or pungent at all. Taste: Chocolate and malts are predominant, aftertaste has some coffee/toffee tones and a good portion of hop bitterness but not out of balance at all. Palate: Silky smooth and almost chewy. Noticeable aftertaste of alcohol which puts me off a bit, but the strong coffee/chocolate tastes keep it from burning or feeling hot. Overall: On the whole a great tasting beer but the strong and lasting flavors combined with the high ABV keep it from being enjoyable on a regular basis. While slowing sipping my one glass kept me impressed throughout, about half way through I realized I wouldn’t care for another glass of this anytime soon... one was good but it’ll do for a while.

3 month old bottle. Pitch black pour, visibly thick, with a very tall and long lasting espresso head. Smells like roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, a bit of smoke, citrus hops and pine resin. The fresh hop aroma is quite nice. Tastes like chocolate, cocoa, a bit of coffee, grapefruit. Smoothish mouthfeel with low carbonation and a chocolate bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from 2012. Pours a rich, viscous black, virtually no head to speak of. Nose is roast, booze, maybe a hint of coffee or chocolate. Taste is heavy on dark roasted malt, a slightly burnt flavor like dark roast coffee making it kind of bitter, but some residual sweetness and lots of booze. Palate is thick, almost oily, and finishes with some boozy burn and crispness from the hops. Not sure if the vintage made this extra boozey, but I’m surprised by how it shone through in an beer under 10% ABV. Still good though!

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black with a light brown foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of coffee, chocolate, roast malt, fruity hop. Taste is roasted malt, ash, sweet, molasses, raisins, dark fruits, hoppy, with coffee & chocolate and earthy bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Black body, nice brown chocolatey head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, some pine. Slightly bitter taste at first followed by some bitterness, ending with a nice roasty finish. Really smooth and rich mouthfeel, nice and tingly carbonation. Very nice overall.

In the glass it’s like ink with brown head. Rich sweet nose with roasted notes of chocolate and coffee. Even some dark malts prescense is noted. Hops not forthcoming in the nose but completes the taste with fine notes. Leaving on the palate with high viscosity and intense cocoa and coffee notes. Really a very nice stout indeed.

Smells of super soft coffee and chocolate malts. Nice dark black in color. Super Rick dark chocolate flavor followed by coffee and dark roasted malts. Very nice flavor with the two combined. Beautiful full body with just the right amount of carbonation. The first beer from you guy and all I can say is love this brew. Nice work with this coffee stout wish it wasn’t so day but nice work.

Bought at a specialty brew shop. Pours a surprisingly dark, almost ink like color with a small dark head. Smells of roasted nuts, chocolate and some malt. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, malt, roasted nuts and a hint of dark fruit. It has an oily chewy consistency that goes down very filling. Overall? Absolutely amazing! many people I have talked to say this is the best Imperial Stout they’ve had!
