Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Pours out like 10w40. Thick and rich and chocolate, and coffee, then some licorice. Very tar-like, but in a good way. Holy shit, why can’t all beers taste this good?

Backlog. At Mi2 at Cardinal 06.05.13. Dark brown to black. Fine head. Looks inviting! Aroma of dark malt, dark and bitter chocolate and bitterness. Taste of dark chocolate, hop bitterness and hints of whisky. Long and bitter aftertaste. Appropriately carbonated. To be enjoyed in smaller amounts.

So, let's try once more. My original rating from 19 November disappeared from beerbuddy/ratebeer and I got no explanations when I asked why. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle, poured into a snifter. A cherry wood aroma is first noted with caramel, chocolate, coffee, and a subtle, roast and earthy undertone. The beer pours a thick, viscous oily black with a rich brown sudsy head that has a mild retention and lace. The taste is a complimentary blend of medium high bitter and medium sweet. The texture is syrupy slick with a fuzzy carbonation and a full body. A chocolate and toffee flavor profile is prominent up front with a slick and waxy finish containing notes of mild licorice and toffee which turns to bitter coffee, then charred wood with some hetbal hints. The aftertaste is strong at first but mellows to an ashy / smokey quality with an earthy coffee flavor

355 ml bottle purchased at Systembolaget in Sweden for about 40 kroner. Pours pitch black with medium level brown lacing. The aroma suggests chocolate, coffee and some roasted malts. Tastewise, rich dark chocolate is the dominating flavor. As the rater below me mentions, it starts off with a nice milk chocolate flavor before finishing up dark chocolatey. There’s a lot of roasted malts and some bitterness too. Overall, this is a full body rounded imperial stout which is very delicious!

Poured from a bomber. Pours black with a big, brownish head made up of dense little bubbles. Aromas of roasted malts, a little smokiness, and some dark fruit on the end. Taste is malts up front, lots of roasted malts, followed by some chocolate and some lingering bitterness. Dark chocolate and milk chocolate flavors are clearly present. The aftertaste is of strong dark chocolate, while the flavor earlier is more milk chocolatey. The colder it is, the more hoppy bitterness you taste. Heavy, smooth, milky mouthfeel. Very full bodied, with a hint of carbonation. Definitely some noticeable booziness. Overall very good imperial stout. Let it warm up a bit and it’s a great dessert on its own. Or, make a Yeti float!

355 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch-black with a medium brown head. Lovely aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. Taste reflects the aroma, but here the roast really takes over. Medium to full-bodied. Medium bitterness. Soft to medium carbonation.

Bottle in LA. Pour is thick pitch black with dark head. strong hot/solvent alcohol on the aroma, more than its 9.5%. Roastiness aroma beneath that. Taste is mildly sweet up front, flavour is rich chocolate and roastiness, american hops, dry and hoppy bitter finish. bitterness, warming alcohol and astringency linger more than I’d like. I’ve had finer imperial stout, but very good nonetheless.

Aika tupakka ja tujakka. Reiman ja Viljakaisen kanssa 60’s palaverissa. Hyvä kyllä, mutta ehkä yksi iltaan.
