4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ericular (256) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Pours totally opaque with a dark brown head and good lacing. Aroma is malt, dark chocolate, a little roasted coffee, and a little citrus from the hops. Taste is rich malts, toffee, and a respectable hop balance leaving a more bitter finish. Palate is thick and smooth, adding to the richness. This beer is solid, balanced, and makes you feel good.

I really like the slightly bitter finish and the mouth feel--velvety with a slight fizz. Really nice, would like to try with a steak. Will definitely purchase again.

Beautiful sweet aroma straight off the pour. Thick syrupy consistency yet easy drinking.
The mouth feel is good but not as lasting as I expected from the pour.
The taste satisfies the aroma. After taste is sharp but brief. Particularly impressed by roasty hop character, brings a freshness amongst the stouty thickness

Pours ink black and looks like espresso. Lacy tan head. Dates and dark chocolate aroma. Viscous mouthfeel. 75 IBU & 9.5% ABV so not for the faint of heart.

Bottled: December 2012. Ohhh wow, Great Imperial Stout. Magical pour, pure black with creamy tanned head. Big Dark chocolate Flavours with espresso and some vanilla with a surprising hoppy bitter finish. Unfortunately this is hardly ever available in Australia, so the wait for the next one may be for a while.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 otakuden (1704) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Appearance:
Pours black as espresso with a creamy espresso hued head which fades slowly into a luxurious blanket with thick edges. Visually decadent. Swirls dark, creamy, and seductive.
Nose:
Black oily viscosity. Burnt bitter pure black cacao. Black ash and charcoal. Espresso sludge and singed caramel nougat. Whole black cherry pits. Oily cigar leaf – terroir. Black root.
Palate:
Creamy silky smooth mouthfeel with a sticky finish that leaves my lips smacking every single time. Breath is burnt chocolate and cigar leaf both raw and aflame. Freshly drawn espresso with rich coffee and caramel notes. Bitter nuts underneath. Tartness along the edges of dark stone fruits and leathery tannins. S’mores in the middle with ooey gooey toasted marshmallow under melting dark chocolate while a chocolate graham cracker tries to hold it all together. More tannins in the back, this time oily cigar leaf and oily leather.
Final Thoughts:
Deep, dense, rich, and just complex enough. Wow. An amazing beer from one of my favorite underrated breweries that are available here in the sunny state of Florida. The original Yeti, be sure to get a bottle or three of these along with keeping an eye out for the other various Yeti releases; they’re all good.
