Great Divideís Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yetiís hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Near black body topped by maybe the greatest dense, frothy, deep tan head I have laid eyes on. The nose has stuff going on - Booze, fresh cut wood, apricots and chocolate milk. First and foremost, this is a chocolate stout. Very dark chocolate. secondary tastes include chocolate milk, dank citrus hops, apricots, slightly burnt caramel, a touch of cafť au lait, shaved wood, cream and a touch of booze warmth. Sweet but dry at the same time. After more than 2 years in the bottle, this is a smooth, integrated classic with enough edgy under tastes to make it special.

Jet black pour, finger plus of creamy mocha foam. Nose is espresso with a hint of alcohol. Bittersweet. Middle is molasses, blackened malt, charred woody hops. Finishes warm and bitter. This is probably your last beer of the night.

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2016 (Tap) clear, very dark brown colour with a small, brown head; aroma starts with candy, then chocolate liqeour, intense, rich flavour with a long, light bitter finish. It is like drinking a good bar of bitter chocolate in beer form.

Bottle as a gift from Helsinki. BB 15.02.2017. Pours... oh jeez... black as the night... with huge tan head... yet the lace is scattered and inconsistent. Delicate sweet cocoa, chocolate and toffee aroma, with a bit of indistinct bitterish notes. Tastes sweet and bitter, dark chocolate and a bit of a grapefruity hint, with burnt roasty dryness. Dry on the palate. Moderate, almost minimal carbonation. Superb drinkability, it ainít thick and viscous, but rather light and, well, liquid, but really fills the mouth regardless. The bitterness is good but together with the roast they come across as a bit harsh in the end. Overall, well... still darned good. What can I do, American Impies rock my boat.

Pours black with a lasting Brown head. Aroma is earthy. Dark malt. Smokey. Dark cocoa. Tabacco. Burnt sugar. Flavor starts off slightly sweet and then the hop bitterness hits you on the back. Notes of tobacco, chocolate, caramel and smoke. Creamy texture. Finish is dry. Solid.

Dark pour for sure with small mocha top. Aroma is great roast malt. The big stouts always have a hop character that I canít really detect - similar to my favorite - ten fidy. Flavor is deliciously roasted goodness. Slightly sweet and maybe a hint of smoke. While there are a few delicious choc or coffee imperials, straight-up stout is the bomb. Iíll put this in my top 3 with Stone RIS and Ten Fidy.

Rating #2182 - 2015.11.17 - Bottle from BevMo. Black as a Himalayan sunset with a weak tan head that caps nicely. Aroma is heavy roast malt and dark roast coffee, molasses. Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, pronounced sweetness, well bittered. One for the tabloids.

Bottle. Rich aroma full of malt, stone fruit, and dark roast coffee. Flavor is rich, velvety, and has distinct notes of prunes. Pours a pitch black with a great espresso-brown fluffy head. Palate is one of creamy, long, fullness.

* Pitch black colour with a modest but lasting espresso coloured head. * Nose: Dark roasted coffee beans, strong French coffee, dark cocoa, liquid dark chocolate, cocoa beans, something savoury and "meaty" like sweet and spicy chili can carne. * Taste & palate: Creamy and soft arrival almost velvety. Then the coffee and dark chocolates notes take over, although still in a very creamy way. The mid taste is all velvety, rounded chocolate beans and cocoa beans. Carbonation? Sure. Plenty. Somewhere. Itís just that itís so integrated with the richness and fullness of body that itís easy to overlook. Which tells me that this beer is very well made. The finish is long, with round coffee and very dark chocolate notes and only at the end of the aftertaste sits a slightly burnt bitterness with perhaps the slightest hint of pine. Perhaps. This supposedly holds 75 IBU but there is obviously so much rich malt stuffed into this beer that the hops has almost drowned. * This is a very rich, soft, velvety and full bodied beer without being sweet in any way. Itís very good and the nose and the appearance are both close to perfection!
