nhorween (528), New York, New York, USA Nov 3, 2006 Bottle, thanks zeswaft. Dark chocolate color, opaque, with a light brown head. Nose is roasty and smoky, hops, alcohol, cocoa, some light coffee notes, sweet and burnt malts. Really smooth flavor (goes well with chocolate). Sweeter than I expected, again, hops and alcohol, bittersweet malt, cocoa like notes, very roasty. Maybe a touch too sweet. Nice on the palate, oily and silky, while still having a dry finish. Very nice beer, the barrel aged brother is a good upgrade for sure.
