Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle pour, black body, chestnut head fades to a skiff. Aroma of plum, vanilla, anise, black malt. Taste is is black coffee, vanilla, booze, caramel, black malt, bitter rind, and salt. Finish is bitter. Body is very thick and chewy. This is really something, and i’m convinced it deserves the scores. The booziness and harsh bitter finish are the big faults. Still, a massive beer.

12 oz bottle. I’ve had this beer multiple times on tap at the brewery, but I’m finally sitting down to write a review in real time here at home. Pours a true opaque black that does not allow light to pass at all when backlit. Head is a solid half inch of brown foam that settles down to uneven pools of bubbles on the meniscus, focusing on the rim of the glass with moderate lacing. Aroma is bitter and complex: roasted malt, oak, vanilla, chocolate, caramel notes and hops. Flavor is balanced profile of aroma markers with aggressive hop bitterness in the finish. Also a slight lactic tang, which is pleasant. Medium to full bodied, smooth roasty chocolate finish.

355ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small dark tan head, which lasts reasonably well, and leaves good lacing. Dark chocolate, strong espresso and fresh spruce hops are garnished with dusty cocoa to create the aroma. A brief hint of pine up front is soon overcome by espresso and bittersweet dark chocolate. Savoury, roasty malt and bitter cocoa in the mid-palate give way to quite a hoppy finish, with notes of pine and orange rind mingling with the cocoa. This is quite dry for an imperial stout, and with just enough hoppiness to temper the rich dark malt flavours. A very nice beer indeed.

Thanks hackobock for IP Trade.

Bottle. Haven’t had one of these in years, but I have fond memories of it (that’s what she said hahaha). Pours pitch black with a large creamy dark brown head. Citrusy hops comes through in the nose with vanilla and white chocolate. Roasted malt, vanilla, ash, dark roasted malt, chocolate, bark. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, heavy sweet and bitter. Long bone dry finish with banana peel astringency. No sticky bone goo to soften it, this bone is dry. That finish sure is long and dry.

From a bomber. Almost perfect stout. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee and a bit if malted barley. Pours an midnight black, opaque body and makes an outrageously thick light brown head that you could float a nickel on. Tastes of brown sugar, coffee and cocoa. This is a stout's stout. One of the very best of the genre. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Bottledog, Kings Cross. Just about black. Minimal, light brown head. Chocolate brownie. Roasted coffee beans. Thick, brown sugar. Light, dried fruit. Taste is dark chocolate sweet. Boozy, fruity dryness. A bit of a Christmas cake thing going on. Palate is syrup sweet, thick. Soft carbonation adds to the indulgent feel. Big, coffee roast, chewy, bitter finish. Lovely.

So much coffee and roast, and surprisingly little alcohol taste for such a potent brew. Beyond the scale when it comes appearance, like a dark chocolate milkshake.

Bottle, into a snifter. Appearance- jet black, oily pour, no light coming through at all. One finger brown/mocha head. Aroma- really nice- lots of chocolate, rich chocolate cake, cocoa, liquorice, dark fruit hints, coffee, big roasty malt, hints of caramel. Taste- full and creamy mouthfeel, thick- almost like fudge syrup. Roasty malts, dark fruit and liquorice undertones, creamy chocolate, loads of bitter coffee, long finish. This is delicious, with one of the best mouthfeels I’ve come across. Exceptional.
