COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

The Yeti is as good a beer as Colorado makes. No light penetrates this thing. Coffee and silky richness. Tons of malt and tons of hops working like a team, bless ’em!

This bottle is very fresh: bottled on 15th februar 2016: Pours black oily color, clear, with creamy beige or light brown long lasting head. Aroma: intense roasted malts aroma, with notes of coffee, coffee, coffee...molasses. Vanilla, cocoa beans, bittersweet chocolate, supported with hop aroma, which takes on pine, some dark fruits. Flavor: intense dark and roasted malts flavor; when it wams up you can detect espresso coffee, vanilla nibs, molasses, toffee, bittersweet dark and milk chocolate, hazelnuts, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cacao nibs, hint of port wine. It is so full and creamy, that high ibu is practically hidden and it impossible to detect notes of hops. But still; finish is slightly dry and bitter. Bitterness lingers in aftertaste. Body is full, creamy, oily, texture is silky soft, carbonation is low. Great beer. Luckly one bottle I have in cellar for aging. This beer have very good potentials for that.

Bottle shared at home /w Mrk. Black with over medium tanned head. Strong roasted smell :-). Roasted chocolate malts, burnt caramel, strong bitter hoppy undertones, some marijuana and some grilled onions. Greek coffee (which is super sweet and bitter), toffee bomb. Big sweet, bitter counterpart. Did I mention the coffee? Full body, chocolate/coffee cake laced with marzipan. Bit grainy sugar chrystal texture. Low but noticeable carbonation, long chocolatey bittersweet finish. Hop bitterness kicks in a bit raw, but it’s tasty as hell.

3 month old bottle. Pitch black pour, visibly thick, with a very tall and long lasting espresso head. Smells like roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, a bit of smoke, citrus hops and pine resin. The fresh hop aroma is quite nice. Tastes like chocolate, cocoa, a bit of coffee, grapefruit. Smoothish mouthfeel with low carbonation and a chocolate bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from 2012. Pours a rich, viscous black, virtually no head to speak of. Nose is roast, booze, maybe a hint of coffee or chocolate. Taste is heavy on dark roasted malt, a slightly burnt flavor like dark roast coffee making it kind of bitter, but some residual sweetness and lots of booze. Palate is thick, almost oily, and finishes with some boozy burn and crispness from the hops. Not sure if the vintage made this extra boozey, but I’m surprised by how it shone through in an beer under 10% ABV. Still good though!

Nicely drinkable.

Black body, nice brown chocolatey head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, some pine. Slightly bitter taste at first followed by some bitterness, ending with a nice roasty finish. Really smooth and rich mouthfeel, nice and tingly carbonation. Very nice overall.

In the glass it’s like ink with brown head. Rich sweet nose with roasted notes of chocolate and coffee. Even some dark malts prescense is noted. Hops not forthcoming in the nose but completes the taste with fine notes. Leaving on the palate with high viscosity and intense cocoa and coffee notes. Really a very nice stout indeed.
