Nice brown color with light sudsy head. Raspberry-like aroma. Interesting sweet maltiness with a strong wine character and light tart edges, raspberry jam finish.

Was fortunate enough to visit the Great Divide brewery when this one-off beer was on draft. According to the server when this batch is gone, it may never be produced again. The beer poured a clear dark cola color with an ecru head. The aroma was light bourbon. The flavors were of oak, vanilla, toffee, caramel and candy sugar. It had a sweet, boozy finish. Wow!

Tap @ Great Divide. Pours a hazy brownish beige appearance with a thin tan head. Big grape, vinous, plum, dark fruity, candy sugar aroma. Somewhat boozy, caramel, candy sugar, plum, raisin, tart vinous flavor. Kind of grew on me but it’s a big fucken beer.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is hazy reddish-brown with no head. Dark fruity, grapey, raisins, figgy, toffee, caramelly, light bourbon, and woody aroma. Taste is big grapes, lightly tart, prunes, raisin, big wood, plums, caramel, and brown sugar. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Interesting stuff. . . I kind-of dig it.

From the the 2013 anniversary party. Tap said Barrel Aged Grand Cru Syrah Blond. Given the original Grand Cru was 11% that’s what the pourer at the fest and I assumed correct.
Poured a rich brown with small head.
Aroma of brown sugar, ginger, bread, melon rind.
Moderate carbonation and significant mouthfeel.
Flavors of sweet malts, lightly roasted malts, powder sugar, and cola. Overall flavorful, very tasty (went back twice), and a little strange, but wonderful for a strong Belgian or "grand cru." Probably my favorite beer of the fest and one of the best I’ve had from GD, and I love many of their big beers.
