Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Cloudy amber-gold with a creamy head. Wheat ale with a few malts, most evident in its nose giving it a slightly gritty texture. Has a dominant wheat character though and a medium bitterness.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark yellowish, opaque and muddy from the yeast sediments (maybe I shouldn’t have poured everything in?). Tall head that hisses and dissipates almost immediately, leaving almost no lacing. Aroma is citrusy, fruity, resembling instant lemonade; no clove, banana at the threshold of perception. Taste: dry, lemon + grapefruit. High, long lasting grapefruity bitterness. High carbonation, somewhat watery. This beer should be classified as an American Wheat. It’s got that American hop character one would expect from an American Wheat, but no Weizen characteristics whatsoever (no clove phenols, hardly any banana esters). With rather unappetising looks and questionable drinkability, this beer should be should be steered clear from. Drink only if you’re after a thirst quenching American Weizen or perhaps White IPA.
