A smooth, very dark, velvety bitter made with finest Maris Otter malted barley along with copious quantities of crystal and chocolate malts. A session beer with a flavour to savour.

Gravity cask at the Drayman’s Son, Ely. Very dark brown, a bit flat-looking with no head to speak of. Coffee and charcoal aroma. Focussed and intense. Taste starts sweet but the burnt coffee bitter pervades just after the initial sip. Body’s a bit thin and flat but it’s not the end of the world. I like this but... a bitter? Are you sure?

Cask at Gravity Station. A cola coloured dark brown, very little head, dotted lacing. Aroma is light ash, hints of seaside made me wonder whether the glass was dirty. Body is medium, smooth, touch of carbonation. Taste is thin malts, hint of coffee, light metallics, smoke, some astringent hop, soft bitterness. I’d call this a mild / bitter hybrid.
