Bottle from Lion’s Den, Yarm. Pours amber with a white head. Big hop flavour in this over a rich, sweet caramel malt base. Bitter flavours of pine, tropical fruits and a touch of spiciness. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly bubbly amber beer with a thin head and a sharp, fruity, hoppy aroma. Flavour is an initial, harsh hit of hop and sour grapefruit but it mellows out quite quickly. It does leave a lingering bitter hop taste on the tongue to finish. Very nice.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Resinous, pine aroma, but its the big caramel flavour that hits me straight away. It’s pretty perfect and mixes with the lovely dry grapefruit taste so well. Long, dry, citrus finish, with some woody notes and medivinal characteristics. Lovely deep reddy-amber colour. One of my beers of the year
