This brewery can do no wrong. This has to be one of my top 3 or 5 DIPAs. Reminds me a lot of Hopslam.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A dark, rusty orange pour. A strong fruity and floral aroma, with some grapefruit and pine that stand out. An initial strong bitter hop taste that fades fast into a more fruity hop flavor. Some lingering bitter taste that has some rum qualities.

Pours a dark orange with a white head. Smells of straight up mango puree. Incredible aroma. The taste has some up front bitterness that gives way to sweet tropical fruit. The sweet citrus hops and the malt backing are melded together perfectly here. This is a must try

12 ounce bottle
Thanks to tastybeer for sharing this with me. Great Lakes has an excellent thing on their hands though by now it is probably not as sharp as it was fresh. This should come around again and when it does snap up a fine release. I’d still prefer bottles of Lake Erie Monster but it gets the job done.
Aroma / Appearance - Idle carbonation bubbles up from time to time. A delicate eggshell head collapses after just a few sips. The color of sun bleached newspaper, it smells very tropical with aspects of oranges, mangoes, and grapefruit. Peach undertones anchor a fresh smelling assault of hops. While malts may be there somewhere they do no drive the show.
Flavor / Palate - The full bodied mouthfeel is sweet like a surge of orange marmalade. Pleasant bitterness coasts into a finish that clings to the throat like dew in grass. Among the better Great Lakes releases this helps challenge the notion that Cleveland cannot produce world class IPAs.

Bottle from a trade with UDbeernut. Pours slightly hazy burnt orange color with off white head. Big citrusy aroma. Grapefruit and orange flavors with some caramel sweetness. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Excellent. Thanks Art.

From the aroma and the taste to the flavour left on the tongue, grapefruit is what stands out. Absolutely beautiful golden appearance. For fans of IPA’s that lean towards a citrus emphasis, it doesn’t get much better than this. For a 9.4% beer, it’s very easy to drink.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 16, 2013 Nearly clear amber pour with a 2 finger, creamy, off white head that has great retention. Aroma has lots of ripe tropical fruit and sweet citrus, light caramel, cereal and toasty malt, more floral and generally fuity hops come in later. Flavor starts off fruity and bitter citrus, leads to some caramel, bicuit and toasty malt, passion fruit and mango heavy tropical fruit, a little melon, sweet orange blossom and some bitter grapefruit and lightly earthy, woody and pine hops. Medium body, with a neutral, to creamy entry, light, to moderate and somewhat blanketing carbonation and creamy, oily and off dry finish. Awesome, definitely the kind of IIPA I would love to drink case after case of.
