4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Alchemy Hour pours a slightly hazy bright copper with a small head of tiny white bubbles. Nose is a heady mix of citrus and pine hops. Body is very lively. Taste is bright grapefruit with a bit of cut grass. Finishes with just a touch of bitters and maybe a touch of apricot.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle, consumed on 5-20-15. Strong, fruity aroma features scents of mango, apricot, lemon, watermelon and dust. Reminds me of an apricot-flavored Fruit Roll-up (that’s a compliment) in aroma. Slightly barley-wine-esque maltiness in the smell. Fantastic and appealing smell. Pours a clear copper-bronze with many small bubbles. Small amount of light taupe head. The liquid looks pretty good in its tint, and I could have given the appearance a 4 were there more head. Strong, juicy aroma features a caramel malty start and a quite dry finish with a bunch of fruity hoppiness throughout that matches the aroma. Flavor of mango with a touch of cream. Also a touch of spice. A ton of flavor and complex; a lot going on. Verges on excessively sweet, and perhaps slightly sweeter than ideal, but not cloying. Medium to full body. Smooth and frothy in the palate. Acceptable but not outstanding palate effects. Overall, smells great and tastes delicious. Unlike many other of the best double IPAs, it doesn’t have a particularly great appearance or palate effects. Still, in the most important areas, aroma and flavor, this is one of the best double IPAs on the market. I’m very happy to have tried it.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours an orange amber. White head. Extremely sweet up front. Pineapple, mango, then follows with a hoppy after taste. Really great, most IPAs are not as sweet up front.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A dark copper with some ruby, half finger white head. Smells of sweet fruit, lavender, resin, citrus, caramel malt in the distance and a little woodiness. Taste is surprisingly sweet, pineapple juice, apple cider, grapefruit which greatly offsets the citrusy, resiny hop flavors. Ends with a grapefruit like bitterness and a cracker malt. Alcohol is fairly present but not distracting. Sweeter than I'd like in an IPA, perhaps need to try a fresher bottle as the hops aren't quite there enough.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Warren’s Ale House in Wheaton, showing a clear, deep bronze color, with plenty of off white head froth, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The nose was earthy, grass & greenery, with a touch of sweetness, and some backup citrus. Medium+ bodied, with decent carbonation, malt sweetness and alcohol presence gave the taste a bit of barleywine impression, included some citrus, a moderate, citrusy & earthy bitterness that lingered, and some alcohol warmth. A hefty & flavorful DIPA.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very drinkable IPA, lemony not terribly bitter, with a fair amount(not over the top) of residue malt sweetness. Pours with a white thick head that quickly dissipates. Colour is fairly dark for an IPA, copper to bronze, translucent.

Bottle shared by Ken at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours bright amber with a white head. Aroma is earthy, floral, resin. Full bodied or very near. Flavor is sweet caramel, lots of earthy and floral hop. I call hopped barley wine. It’s very, very nice.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma - Tangerine, citrusy, piney, and a little boozy
Appearance - very clear copper with a nice white head
Taste - initial light bitterness with a smooth sweet and bitter finish
Mouthfeel - light/medium bodied, very smooth, and slightly sticky
Overall - really good beer. Hops balance the malt backbone of this beer nicely. Great tangerine aromas really compliment the beer
