12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon, oak, vanilla, some chocolate and coffee, and some hints of spices. Flavor the same with a nice blend and the bourbon adding a lot to the base beer. Smooth, thick texture. A really good beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a wonderful black with off white head. Smells of cherry and Bourbon. A thick feel to this beer. Can really taste the Bourbon and has a dry aftertaste. A very very good beer.

On draft at Great Lakes. Jet black, small and tight head. Strong whiskey smell. Strong whiskey taste, beer compliments the end with a little dark chocolate mellowness. Strong. I bet some will love but only does a little for me.

Bottle from a great trader. Huge thanks for this big want of mine. Bottle pours pitch black into my tulip with a small half finger khaki brown head. Aroma of loads of rich chocolate, roasty grains, bourbon, oak, coconut. Flavor is big sweet chocolate up feont with plenty of bourbon and roast, it finishes with huge vanilla from the barrel, some light coconut and chocolate and oh my lord so smooth. Velvety smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation, heavy body. This is fantastic. The finish is one of the best and it is so velvety smooth. Right up there with the best BA stouts and yet much more drinkable. Great Lakes is just such an incredible brewery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a brown murky black, low head. Aroma is big bourbon and light roast. Taste is rich oak ad booze roast, a bit overpowering booze and light roast, tasty but I prefer the regular blackout stout.

12oz bottle thanks to jmagnus, thsnks bro. Poured a thicker bodied syrupy pitch black with a super small dense beige foamy head. Aroma is great once this warms up a bit. Dark spiced rum, chocolate cake batter, wood, marshmallows, dark fruit skins. Syrupy fuller bodied with lively csrbonation and a good dose of alcohol heat that leaves a lot of lingering warmth on the back of my throat. Flavor of alcohol, dry old chocolate, barrel, dry toast, vanilla extract, chocolate dipped dark fruit. Not bad.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown/black colour, small golden head. Thick and full bodied, slightly slick, but not too much. Aroma is lots of bourbon barrel, boozy, rich dark chocolate, some sweetness. Dominated by the bourbon. Taste is nice. bourbon is more subtle but still there. Slight bitterness, quite chocolatey, bourbon at the finish. Porter like fruitiness and a bit of roast, but bourbon really dominates. I like it though.

Iím a huge fan of Blackout and I am happy to have this one in my hands. Itís been a want of mine for quite some time that a gracious local BA put into my hands.
Itís black as itís namesake and has a central pillow and flanking ring of mocha foam. Smells of graham, oak, toasted malts, residually melted sugars, a hint of craft caramel, some vanilla, alcohol and raw oats. Flavor follows suit: malts, oak, vanilla, oak, leathery, a bit of fig, a solid molasses undertone (nothing too overpowering, just a complement), and some nougat. Nearly full bodied with slightly hi carb and a semi dry finish. This a really tasty beer. Iím glad to have had it, and I would drink it again for certain.
