3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012 vintage, bottle from alexisdad06, thanks man! Thick black pour, about one finger of nice mocha head. Aroma, oak, vanilla, coffee, lots of barrel, very nice. Taste, a bit thin on the mouthfeel, some oak, ash, vanilla, caramel and bourbon, plenty of roasted malts, finishes with a bit of ash at the throat. Overall, not bad, a bit thin but very nice overall.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Here’s one I just found the review notes on. I received this a variety of times through trades.
Once this was poured into a pint glass, the other two times it was poured into a snifter. The smell seems to last a bit longer in the snifter.
The appearance was a decent jet black color with a quickly dissipating less than a finger’s worth of white head into the body. There was barely any lacing.
The smell was a super strong alcohol. It was so strong that I had to let it warm up a good half hour just to let it warm up to my senses. Once that happened there were some light vanilla and chocolate characteristics.
The taste was mainly sweet and alcoholic hot. The aftertaste was hot, sweet and sticky leading into the same sort of finish.
On the palate, this one was a sipper, there’s no if’s, and’s or but’s about it. This was meant to be sipped. The carbonation was pretty smooth as well.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Imperial Stout well worthy of having again, but next time, I’m gonna let it age a bit just to let some of the alcoholic strong qualities to fade a bit.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 Bottle thanks to Santa last year! Pours opaque black with a quickly dissipating small brown head that leaves decent lacing behind. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, roasted malt, a bit burned. Flavor follows, medium sweet, medium bitter, roasty. bourbon forward, a bit hot and boozy, a touch of vanilla. Some astringency from the wood, a bit harsh actually. Finish has lingering bitterness and ABV heat. Edgy. Medium body.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from beernut. Pours black just small head. Aroma is mild bourbon and vanilla. Some roasted character too. Taste is a bit sweet at first, mix if the bourbon and vanilla. Then some roastiness hits. Coats the mouth more than the base beer. Also a bit more warming. Nice ba version if the beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bouteille partagée avec slovaksniper. Bière brune très foncée presque noire avec une mousse beige. Un nez de chocolat, de grain rôti, de vanille et de bois. La bouche est chaude, chocolatée avec des notes de vanillé boisé.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
(Thanks Cory "BlowOffTube")
A- Chocolate, vanilla, cherries, bourbon, woody.
A- Black color, black liquid, tan head.
T- Chocolate, bourbon, coffee, brownies, malty,
P- Full body, average texture, soft carbonation, smooth boozy finish.
O- I have been dying to try this one and finally got the chance. This bottle had about 2 years of age on it. It definitely helped mellow things out and this resulted in a smooth beautifully done brew. I would put this on the same level as Bourbon County Stout. The bourbon/alcohol is definitely present but not harsh and the chocolate tones make it seems as though there is brownie batter in here. The alcohol comes out the warmer it gets. This deserves a special place at the top of any list.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle (bottled in 2014) compliments of ewestern into Le Duvel - nose is vanilla and roast. Sips adds whiskey, brown sugar and coffee. Sweet and bitterness of the dark chocolate kind. Fairly easy to drink. An awesome way to finish the DLD weekend after spending 5.5 hours on the road!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap: Pitch black, topped with a huge, lively tan cream made of fine-bubbles that lasts for over half the glass. Aroma is full of light whiskey notes with a fine backing of oak, tannins, mild roasted malt, hints of sweet chocolate, & light barrel-induced vanillin around the edges. Not as complex as expected, but still nice. The flavor is quite a nice step up... Lovely sweet baker’s chocolate mixed with smooth whiskey; I get a huge maple syrup presence throughout... The booze is apparent but is tamed nicely by the sweetness. Vanilla, brownie batter, brown sugar, baker’s chocolate with some prickly, woody tannins in the finish. Gains more whiskey character with warmth. I eventually pick up faint coconut near the end of my glass, too. Overall, an awesome barrel aged stout with great flavor, wish it was a little easier to get.

On tap at Ashley's. Incredibly smooth. Pours a pitch black. No complaints really. Aroma wasn't super pronounced
