Chipalsa (1309) - Florida, USA - NOV 18, 2012
This was a fantastic stout. It poured a murky black with a thin tan head. Aromas were earthy and chocolaty with a nice touch of oak. The taste had a nice complexity to it; There is a nice separation of flavors between the dark chocolate bitterness and oaky, vanilla-y malty goodness. Some cocoa and vanilla was in the finish and made for a solid barrel-aged stout.

355cl bottle in a trade thanks a lot to matt! shared it with a good friend. poured a black colour with no real head. aroma’s of chocolate, oak, vanilla, sweet bourbon notes, hazlenuts, toffee, roasted malt notes, great balanced sweet bourbon flavours. it it’s defenetly not the best BA stout in it’s style. weak body, and a bit of a watery mouthfeel and aftertaste. should be a lot more thicker with some more abv.

Pour is dark brown with a tight toffee colored head. Nose is light bourbon and wood, fair bit of sweet milk chocolate, hints of anise and chewy caramel. Taste has more wood, lots. Fairly forward bourbon notes, lots of rich milk chocolate and some sweeter caramel type malt. Full bodied, thick and creamy with strong carbonation and some alcohol burn through the finish. Heavy on the bourbon and wood side.
