Inspired by the rabble-rouser and mischief-maker in all of us, Tripel Dog Dare is a bratty little instigator. Can you handle it? Come on, take a sip. We dare you, you chicken. It takes a special kind of person to appreciate the bold complexity of a Belgian-styleTripel. Is that a challenge you’re willing to walk away from? Of course not, you brave adventurer. After all, unlike sticking your tongue to a frozen flagpole, engaging in a violent game of red rover, or chucking snowballs in a frosty battle royal, sipping Tripel Dog Dare offers a much more satisfying reward.

Draft. Poured cloudy copper color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Complex spice, fruit and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spice sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a refreshing good beer.

Sample at GABF 10/13/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer is a hazy straw color with a medium thin white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast and fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of earthy yeast, fruit and spices. The finish is fruity with a sweetly spiced aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest (CWBF) 2013. Mildly hazy yellow orange color. Thin white head, little dots of lace. Tropical fruit and big banana nose. Bigger body, smooth lighter carbonation, creamy texture. More sweet taste, lightly tangy. Interesting, unique tripel

Pour on tap at GABF, hazy orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of candied white fruit, caramel, toffee, into slight earth, slight spice in there with a touch of vanilla, hints of pepper, slight clove and banana as well. Taste is a mix of white fruit, banana, bubblegum and clove into hints of earth, grass and grainy notes, slight biscuit, bread in there, candied fruits, finishing fairly sweet, slightly dry.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a clear orange golden color with a thin white film. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, Belgian candy sugar, ripe fruits, light spice, yeast, just a touch of bitterness to the finish, the alcohol remains well hidden. The finish is a bit soft. Decent, but not a style that excites me.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a semi-transparent orange with thin off-white lacing. Smells semi-sweet, yeasty, and doughy. Tastes like it smells with some extra spice notes. Average on palate. A decent example of the style.
