Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

12oz bottle courtesy STFun. Pours out thick and black with just a hint of a head. Fresh crushed grains, chocolate malt, coffee and cocoa powder aroma. Taste is thick and chocolaty, coffee bitterness, lots of thick dark malt, and hints of dark fruit. Mmmm, this is nice and chewy, with just a little bit of heat from the alcohol. I like this a lot.

Clear dark brown with a frothy head. Aroma is dry blackened malts with dark cocoa. Smooth light/medium body. Nice flavors of black malts, cocoa, with some coffee bitterness to finish. Like their Fitz porter a bit better than this.

Pours pitch black with a thin, dense tan head which remains a wisp of foam throughout leaving good lacing. Huge sweet, roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate and coffee playing major roles. There is also some dark fruit and the balance makes the aroma top notch. Like the aroma, the taste is dominated by the roasted malts but without as much coffee as the aroma. There is also a much heavier sweetness in the taste which gives way to a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and creamy with a good carbonation. The finish is nice and sticky, coating the mouth. Drinkability is fairly good and this is a very good, though not great, stout in my book. Recommended.

Oak aged 22 ouncer from Ezra. Yum! Poured a silky blackish body with a small whitish head. Toasty brown vanilla body with a grainy, earthy hops body. Sticky and the real deal. Very clean and funkedified. Yumsers!

Poured almost black with thin brown head that lingered a little while. Aroma was of dark roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and coffee. Flavor was an exquisite blend of all of the above. Mouthfeel was thick and satisfying. Drinkability was good for a beer of this alcohol content. This was a fantastic beer.

12 oz. bottle - thanks to fiver29 for the trade; pours jet black and thin w/ just about no head; aromas are of a nutty and soapy sweetness; thin body and nice texture, just didn’t seem to have much going on in the flavors; roasty, but very mild and not up to the level of the aromas; a decent impy, just kind of a letdown and not quite up to snuff like their fitzy porter

Total toast monster. The smoke from this beer will not clear for many years to come. Great roasted barley flavor. My second favorite from great lakes.

Good beer. Smells of roasted malt, nothing fancy. Smooth taste, ends a little metallic but not much. Almost no carbonation due to it being very thick. Dark color, not opaque though. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, and a little bit like chocolate.
