Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

Bottle - Dark black, nice thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Lots of coffee flavor with a little carmal. Very smooth and creamy. Actually picked up this 4 pack when I was looking for something else. Very drinkable, excellent beer.

Absolutely fell in love with this beer when I returned to Cleveland in 2005 for a visit, only to find out that the 6 packs I bought were at the end of the run and none were left for the rest of my visit. Anyway, sweet coffee flavor with some vanilla spice. 0 hops. Nice. Too many beers overly hopped out here in California. Outstanding Imperial Stout!

Black with small tan head. Mildly fruity aroma and taste, a bit like chocolate/coffee covered black cherries. Nice sweet quality with a bittersweet finish. Very good.

Bottle from kryptic. Aroma of charred vanilla beans, sweeter dark chocolate, molasses and roasting coffee. Pours deep, dark brown, almost black with virtually no head. Flavor initially has a lot of sweet vanilla notes. Some bittersweet chocolate developing. Roasted malt, coffee and a Snickers sweetness (chocolate, caramel, peanut and nougat). Creamy. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with a bittersweet chocolate bite. Thanks Mike!

12 oz bottle. Enjoy by 10/06. Dark mahogany with a slight tan head. Coffee and grapes fades to grass and tobacco. Mouthfeel is almost perfect; creamy, not too thick, with a dash of zesty carb to lighten. Taste offers coffee, brown sugar, plum and raisin. Nothing exotic but still a solid and approachable RIS.

Bottle. Rich coffee/expresso aroma that just fills the nose. Creamy bitter sweet chocolate smell and taste. Aroma is just perfection - a great powerful balance. Ink blot black with thick head. An ideal sweet bitterness. Creamy but not overly heavy. Uniquely sweet and equally bitter. Can pick up on the alcohol, but only slightly in the taste. Would love to have again.

Bottle. Jet black pour with tan head. Malt, roasted coffee, and caramel on the nose. Coffee upfront on the flavor. Dark chocolate and caramel also present in taste. Bitterness throughout. Medium mouthfeel. Lingering chocolate finish. Nice.
