Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

I liked this just a hair more than the barrel aged version. Aroma has light coffee and chocolate. Flavor has sweet malt with sweet chocolate; one of the more chocolate flavored beers I have tried. Thick and heavy on the palate, very smooth and like syrup. Thanks hellomynameis.

Pours a dark black/brown with a small brown head. Black olive, coffee, and chocolate dominate the nose. Nice carbonated mouthfeeel with light coffe as well as chocolate and dark fruit.

Coffee, chocolate, black olive in the aroma. Tatse has less coffee, some chocolate, char, burnt malts, dark fruits, a bit of vanilla. Lighter than expected body, but not by much.

Poured from a 12 oz. Black but not completely so with some oakish brown appearing around the edges. Aroma of black olive, raisin and prune, coffee. Tastes of heavy purple fruits covered in chocolate with touches of brown sugar and whiskey flavors. Not completely full-bodied but almost. A unique take. Thanks for sharing, Zac!

Rate beer rating # 2,900. 12oz bottle acquired in multiple trades. This one was labeled BB 10/06. Poured as black as the eyes of a Norristown Hooker (I got inspired by today’s Pet Peeve thread - and yes, I drank the whole 12oz myself!). Not completely dark as there was some brown edges and an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, coffee grounds, and caramel. Tastes of roast, dark fruits, chocolates, caramel, coffee, and vanilla. Nice creamy body and very easy to drink.

A favorite sessionable stout (two pints makes for nice fall eve). No notes dominate in this brew--though certainly more on the bitter side. There is a slight metallic/mineralish afternote--though I find this neither good nor bad.

Thanks to moejuck for the bottle. pours deep brown with a small head. Aroma of Coffee and chocolate. Bitter coffee taste. Not much in the way of hops. Full body. Somewhat oily texture. Lightly bitter finish. Textbook.

12 oz bottle: Aroma of big malts, dark chocolate, fresh ground coffee, and caramel. Appearance is pitch black with a small tan head that didn’t stay long at all. Flavor is a wonderfully malt texture, coffee again, chocolate, and a bit of alcohol stinging. Overall, It’s a darn good Impy Stout. I’m glad I have more and that I can cellar these beauties. Cheers!!
