bitbucket (2027), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 21, 2007 Bomber from shigadeyo, Thanks, Craig! Pours nearly black with a fading tan head. Full, rich body with moderate carbonation. Caramel and chocolate nose. Plenty going on in the taste with coffee, chocolate, nuts, vanilla, roasty malt. Building bitter finish. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Jan 21, 2007 12-oz., courtesy the kind hospitality of BitBucket. Pours deep black with a scant and diminishing off-white head. Big sweet nose--tons of chocolate. Super bold attack; sweet and roasty and thickly velvety. Enormous, complex coffee and chocolate mid-palate. Big roasty bitter finish. This is definitely the good stuff. Capa (955), Yokosuka, Japan Jan 16, 2007 Poures black, with a little light tan head. Aroma of rosted malts, coffee, alcohol, burnt/smoked malt, and hops. Mouth is a little thin for an imperial stout. Flavor is very good. Roasted/burnt malts, coffee, chocolate, and some hops. the finish is a little bitter and has a nice alcohol warmth. This is a very good I.S. verymerrymonk (255), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 15, 2007 Pitch black body with a rocky brown head. Licorice, chocolate, and hops in the aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel with chocolate, moving towards bitter coffee in the end. Very good. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 7, 2007 Bottle from HogTownHarry (I think...). Rating #1700. Pours a dark brown-black with a thin tan head. Aroma is very nice - dark, almost burnt malt, fresh roasted coffee beans, green hops. Body is light for an impy, but made it quite easy to drink - perhaps TOO easy! Flavour is very nice, big & balanced, with all of the expected notes in place - coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, warm hops. Nothing wacky or avant garde going on here, just a solidly made imperial that I really enjoyed. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 5, 2007 This beer pours a dark coffee color with abundant carbonation and abundant tan head.
Aroma is sweet coffee and caramel, and is wonderful.
Taste is slightly sweet up front, and the finish is coffee, oakiness, and complex. It is quite good, but I didn’t feel the urge to guzzle it down because it was so delicious.
Mouthfeel is slightly sticky and pretty good. I also found this beer to be pretty drinkable. All-around quite good and easily the peer of Victory Storm King Stout. ogglethorp (884), Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours a jet black color with a fairly small dark tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Flavor is on the sweet side, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. Palate is full bodied, mildly carbonated, smooth and creamy, finishes bitter and slightly warm. Great stuff. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 3, 2007 Bottle Courtesy of Santa. Rating #550. Pours a dark body with good size head. Aroma is of roasted chocolate malt. Very sweet taste that is very smooth and balanced. Light mouthfeel which is odd compared to the aroma and look of the beer. Sweet malt and very low hop presence. Very good. almost had a Expedition quality to it and I would love to try the BA of this. Cheers!
