KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 1, 2006 Dark color. Smell of roasted coffee, chocolate, tons of hops and some malt. It tastes just like it smells with some alcohol, caramel and blueberries/rasberries. A nice sweet bitterness at the end. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 31, 2006 Bottle. Pitch black, oily tan head - man, this looks thick and formidable. Strong roast and some coffee in aroma - nice, but I expect a little more in this style. Very nice taste, rich chocolate, dark malt, linger of coffee roast. Sweet, really no hops. Rich tasting stout, lovely complex stuff. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 30, 2006 12-oz. bottle from moejuck. Pours dark molasses, very near opaque, with a rocky tan head that mostly diminishes, fair spotty lacing. Aroma is heavy roasted chocolate and caramel malt (cookie, straw), yeast (dark warm dough) and dark fruit (prune, raisin). Medium sweet chocolate, velvety caramel and molasses, malty body, moderate acidity follows bringing a warm alcohol, port and vinous, ending with raisins and prunes. Dark and warm bodied, dry and spicy palate. Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA Jul 28, 2006 This is a good Imperial! All the adjectives apply. A dark tan, tightly bubbled head topped the opaque black brew. The sweetness of the malt came through first followed by a strong hop finish. Ahh, the head is creamy. It layed heavily on the tongue and coated the mouth. Coffee, chocolate, sweet caramel, it was all there. The high ABV was noted and contributed to the total effect zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jul 23, 2006 Bottle. Pours opaque dark brown with tan head. Aroma is coffee, molasses, caramel, and chocolate, a bit of alcohol too. Flavor is all of those elements plus added yummy smokiness. This is a good Imperial Stout. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jul 17, 2006 12 oz bottle thanks to Santa. Dark Black pour with not much head. Aromas of dark coffee and mocha. Flavors added anise and some Dark Chocolate for some bitterness. Very roasty and yummy. Thanks Santa... sandwichpants (117), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Jul 15, 2006 Light for an Imperial, but still darn good. I can see through the beer when I pour it, so it’s not one of those "motor oil" stouts. Lots of sprucey hops and all kinds of roasty and sweet malt flavous. It’s less strong in flavour and body, but has all of the other characters of an imperial stout, so it becomes a bit more drinkable and delicate, rather than beligerant and powerful. Quite good, I look forward to somehow scoring a barrel aged version in the future! moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jul 13, 2006 "I absolutely love this stout. It pours pitch black, and has a strong, full aroma. You can smell the roasty malt and coffee aromas very clearly. The taste is the kicker though. It has a full, malty, heavily coffee flavor, with practically no aftertaste whatsoever.
