Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.

Easter tasting @ jbean’s. Very reminiscent of the Old Rasputin in its rich chocolate aroma and coffee upfront in the flavor, albeit not as big as Old Rasputin. Surprisingly thin pour and not too thick, which I didn’t mind; dark ebony w/ a small beige head (don’t think the pour did the head justice though). Malty, roasty, dominated by coffee and milk chocolate. I maintain that Great Lakes is a very underrated brewery.

Bottle thanks to ericanders via Lumpy. Pours a deep black with faint ruby hues and dark tan head. Aroma is very interesting on this one, a mixture of alot of dark roast, baking chocolate, a faint citrus in the background almost covered with the alcohol. Flavor is great, alot of dark roasted malt, semi-sweet, baking chocolate, alcohol, and perhaps a faint amount of pecan shell.....Mouth feel is nice, full, heavy body with low carbonation, slight silk. Over all, very good shit!!!!!!!

draft at flossmoor station pre-DLD poured into a snifter. pours a syrupy, jet black with a big, soft, light tan head. aroma was outstanding with big mocha coffee, vanilla syrup, and cinnamon with hints of sweet, roasty malt and jagermeister. flavor was delicious with big dark chocolate and coffee flavors up front with notes of marshmallow and dark toffee malts and a hint of floral hop sweetness on the swallow. palate was full bodied, oily slick, with a big boozy presence, and a lingering chocolate finish. overall, a delicious imperial stout.

12 oz bottle. Black in color with medium brown head and very nice lacing. Faint chocolaty and roasty aroma. Amazing mix of chocolate, coffee, smoky and sweet cream flavors. Really well balanced and nothing too overwhelming.

Thanks Explosivebeer! Fierce mocha aroma and some vanilla. Oily yet light bodied and soft. Great all around.

12 oz bottle from the Binny’s Singles Rack (Orland Park, IL). Figured I’ve had the BA, may has well pop the base. Pours a pitch black pour, fairly thick, with moderate light brown head that laces some but dissipates to a film. Aromas are evident from the crack, spouting chocolate and vanilla like cream, caramel, some lighter coffee, and good roasted malt. Initial is full bodied, taking on some nice bitterness and roast up front and on the backend. Body lets in some of the creaminess and sweetness from the chocolate and caramel, with light vanilla. Chocolate also displays bitterness towards the finish. I’d have to say the bitterness towards the finish is stronger than normal, providing good balance with the sweetness in the body, almost a little too strong. Alcohol hides well among the elements. This is a very good Impy. Cheers!

Pours deep black with foamy caramel head. Expresso, cocoa and roast nut flavours. Full body, with a slight bittering finish.
