COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.

Pours predictably pretty dark black but does have a hint of ruby red with no head and a thin ring of lacing. Smells of milk chocolate, raisin, roasted coffee, dark bready malts, soy sauce, some pine. Taste starts with raisin, some dark chocolate, coffee. Then get more raisin, as well as plum, some pine, some breadiness. Then the finish includes, a little pine or grapefruit, roasted malt, some coffee, milk chocolate, little heat, some carmel, little soy sauce, maybe some licorice but I could just be imagining that. Pretty complex with a full body and a creamy and slick mouthfeel. Good amount of carbonation, but too much in my opinion. This is a very solid imperial stout that is on the verge of world class.

On tap @ Radio Maria, as part of a flight of imperial stouts. This was a standout. Rich and chocolatey, underlying dark fruits, medium sweetness, roasty bitterness. Nicely balanced.

Bottle to pint glass. Aroma is sweet chocolate and BlackBerry, maybe cherry also. Touch of toasted barley. Appearance: Dark black color, small head. Looks almost a little thin. Taste: dark fruits, plum, fig, BlackBerry. Very tasty and sweet. Feel: flat. Only negative here is that it needs some carbonation. A very nice beer. Sad to see the Edmund Fitzgerald replaced as my favorite Great Lakes Beer.

Pours a deep dark brown, almost black, with a large diminishing dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Taste is just as good-- nice and roasty with malt, coffee, lots of chocolate and hops with a touch of alcohol. Great body. Easy to drink for an Imperial Stout.

Poured from 12oz bottle to pint glass. Black with a brown head, initial smell of chocolate, and a little bit of soy sauce. Fine carbonation, very easy to drink, a sweet initial taste, can taste the hops, and it tastes a little earthy. I could drink these all day, especially one too many with an ABV of 9%. All around a very good beer.

(tap) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of roast, chocolate, then stewed fruit; balanced flavour with a long, light sweet finish, followed by an even longer light bitter afterfinish

Bottle to beer tulips. Black pour with a beige head. Semi-sweet chocolate, fruit, roast in the nose. Sweeter chocolate, vanilla, roast in the taste. Creamy mouthfeel with a bit of an earthy linger. Really awesome RIS. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours black, no head at all. Aroma of dark fruit. A bit sweet for an RIS, but not too. Medium bodied, slick, but not oily and flat. Overall this was too fruity and sweet.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with tall, long lasting, creamy, brown head and nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, toast, dark fruit, alcohol and coffee, some sourness. Body is full, creamy and smooth. Taste is of toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruit, herbal hops and unpleasant sourness. Something is very wrong with this bottle.
