Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by roasted malts. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel. Nice one.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a very dark mahogany with a huge, creamy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Very full body, sweetish roasted malt with roasted, coffeeish accents and some chocolate. Light, bitter finish and very pleasant overall. Thanks heaps to Yogi_Beera and pivo for bringing this. 170406

Bottled, thanks Baggio! Near black, small head. Aoma of coffee with sugar. Sweet and nar full bodied and rather clean mouthfeel. Dominated by coffee, sugar and licorice. Nice, big flavours, but I prefer the lighter everyday beers from Great Lake.

black, thin tan head, huge sweet roasted aroma with lots of ripe fruit, huge malt flavor, lots of ripe fruit, roasted and chocolate malts well represented,

lasting thin brown head with a bit of lace, sweet ripe fruit aroma with the roasted taking a back seat, smooth sweet body, flavor is all ripe fruit, light bitterness in the finish, the special B of imperial stouts, this not like an imperial stout at all, too much ripe fruit character rather than the roasted malts, I love it

more roasted and hop flavor, swinging back to an imperial stout, need to do more samples at various age points to see where the fruit appears and how it progresses

Thanks to Dough77 for this one! Black colour. Aroma has a lot of chocolate, light roast with some plum notes. It has a rich, deep, chocolatey character with burnt fruitcake roastiness that adds accent to the background. Rich, chewy and well-crafted. Finishes intensely with coffee, tons of malty sweetness and balancing alcohol.

Black color. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, leather. Smooth texture, thick mouthfeel (malt, caramel, liquorice, roasted malt…). Excellent, very well brewed. Thanks Nat!

Bottle at Kookfest 2006. Black/dark brown colour. Bit of tar, bit of vanilla. Beige head. Lots of roasted malts and hops. Lots of choc/roastyness. Just a bit empty in the mouth.
