Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, fizzy, brown head. Milk chocolate, vanilla, smoke, light sarsaparilla and a whisper of Chanel #5 make up the aroma. The flavor is all sweet chocolate and toffee with a hefty plume of smoke. Unbalanced... on the malty/sweet side. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Sweet, chocolatey finish. A little too sweet for me. A quality brew nonetheless! Thanks go out to scraff for the bottle.

Pours a rich black with some brown around the edges and a nice tan head. Dry mildly roasted aroma with a touch of hops. Body starts semi-sweet and roasty with a stronger coffee-like presence coming on before a more bitter dry finish. Lingering chocolate malt helps to mask the alcohol. As it warms it seems to pick up more balance and complexity. A nice imperial stout. Thanks to BBB63 and TAR for bringing me bottles of this.

Bottle. Nice one. Strong mocha and chocolate aroma. Black colour. Lots of flavour, which almost borders on one dimensional, but it just has so much nice flavour, that you almost forget about that. Lots of roasty mocha and chocolate, with touches of licorice and dark fruit. Long finish.

Bottle. Pitch black coloured. Light brown dense head. Chocolate, caramel, light coffee, sweetness and heavy roast in the nose. Flavour as well has loads of coffee, roast and chocolate. Alcohol notes. Full bodied with nice balance. Smooth. Loads of roasty bitterness in the end. This beer really does it for me. Thanks to Mullman for the trade.

(35,5cl bottle with big thanks to Yogi_beera!) Pitch black colour with a short but lacing foamy light-brown head. Slightly sweet roast-malty nose with caramel, chocolate Initially slightly sweet malty with a roasted, almost burnt bitterness coming trough quite early, full bodied with a soft and pleasant carbonation, rounded up with notes of coffee, caramel and chocolate; well-rounded, almost dry roasty bitter finish with light grainy notes, coffee and a touch of dark chocolate. The alcohol is presently warming and well integrated. Aromatic, fairly complex and balanced Imp. Stout.

The Lure:
Dark chocolate meets soy sweetness for a rather intriguing perfume. Roasted malts bloom within the citrusy hoppiness.

The Festivities:
A luscious, cohesive body offers plenty of roastiness and hop bitterness. Molasses and bread crumbs proliferate the slick, ample nature of the mouthfeel, and prove balance is possible is those big boys of the dark beer world.

Transcendence:
A massive yet unpretentious statue in honor of the creation of imperial stouts.

Pours black with a tan lingering head. Smells of chocolate and coffee with some vegetal qualities. Taste is unusual with lots of chocolate, sugar and spice. Finish is lightly bitter and chocolatey.
