It tastes just like it smells with some alcohol, caramel and blueberries/rasberries. A nice sweet bitterness at the end. afireinside96 (842), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA

The smell and flavor were both filled with rum soaked dark chocolate, plum, licorice, and raisin. Big presence in the mouth, nice and smooth as well. Very nice though maybe a tad too simple. I would gladly drink it again anytime though. BlackForestCO (831), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 27, 2007 Updated: Mar 4, 200907 bottle thanks to Ty5592. Poured a black color with a minimal tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and licorice. Initial flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with hints of caramel and toffee, and even a bit of licorice and darkfruits in the finish. Not as in-your-face as some of the other IS’s I have tasted, but it stands out as unique. Smooth and creamy. Not as roasty as I usually prefer, but it is still a great beer. Thanks Ty. | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Pours a deep, warm, opaque sable that is just a red tomcat whisker above black. Head is thick and dark tan, but disappears quickly - half a point off there. Aroma is rich and fills the nose with smoke, fine coffee, unsweetened chocolate and molasses. Flavor does not disappoint - rich and lip-smacking, it is like fine roast coffee mixed with unsweet chocolate, a hint of charcoal and a touch of molasses. Texture is thick, oily, smooth and lively so it doesn’t just slide down the pipes but fairly dances its way to the tummy. A must for all stouties! OSLO (830), Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 15, 2009 [Bottle] Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is huge on mocha, and also has macademia nuts, faint port notes, alcohol, and molasses. Taste is big on dark chocolate, before transitioning to roasted malt, light anise, good bitterness, alcohol and a touch of plum. Very long finish of roasted malt, and good thick mouthfeel. A very nice imperial stout that perhaps is just a little too heavy on the roasted malt, but is otherwise enjoyable. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 16, 2006 Aroma of maltiness and a slight bitterness maybe from coffee. Was very dark, but not opaque like some other imperials ive had. Nice blend of sweet malt, bitter hoppiness, and alcohol burn all in one sip. Very smooth and choclatey though. I could drink a few of these. oteyj (822), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 2, 2009 Courtesy of craftycarl21. Black pour with a half finger off white head. Aroma is extremely earthy- lots of loam, peat, and roasted barley in the nose. Creamy cocoa nib and caramel. Roast dominates with a slight warming alcohol creeping into the sinuses. Flavor is also quite roasty with sweet creaminess, chocolate, coffee, and peat. Roast dominates again. Palate is a tad thin for the style, but creamy, velvety and supple. A delicious example of the style. BeerVirgin72 (820), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
